GRT was formed on 23 April 2014 after the merge of Guangdong Television (GDTV), Radio Guangdong, Southern Media Corporation, and Television Southern (TVS). [1]

The Guangzhou Broadcasting Network, also known as GZBN, is a municipally-owned television network in Guangzhou, Guangdong, People's Republic of China. The television department made its first broadcast on 10 January 1988, while radio department made its first broadcast on 1 December 1991. The GZBN is also owns a cable company and a showbiz newspaper, and owns Sky Link TV in the US.

In July 2010, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Guangzhou Committee, in a written proposal to mayor of Guangzhou Wan Qingliang, suggested increasing Mandarin programming on Guangzhou Television's main and news channels. The proposal sparked widespread controversy, met with fierce criticism in native Cantonese-speaking cities including Guangzhou and Hong Kong, which eventually triggered a mass protest in the former city. In a formal response, Guangzhou TV rejected the proposal, citing "historic causes and present demands" as reasons for Cantonese-Mandarin bilingualism.

The Southern Media Corporation (SMC) is a television network based in Guangzhou, Guangdong. It was found on 18 January 2004 between the merge of Guangdong Television (GDTV) and Southern Television (TVS). At the same time the television network expanded its service to Hong Kong, Macau and North America to compete with Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) and Asia Television (aTV), other major Cantonese language TV networks.

Harry Harding, also known as Hazza Harding and simply his stage name Hazza, is a journalist, television presenter, radio host and singer previously based in China. His debut single, "Let Go", was released on iTunes 8 August 2012, along with a music video that was shot in Australia. Hazza won "Most Popular Internet Celebrity 2011" at the 56.com Short film awards ceremony in Beijing. On November 23, 2020, Hazza announced via his Twitter account that his single "I Was Wrong" had peaked at No.5 on a national music chart in China, broadcast on more than 25 radio stations across mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. Hazza stepped down as host of Guangdong Report on August 31, 2022, the same day that the OHCHR Assessment of human rights concerns in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, People's Republic of China, was issued.

Alpha Group Co., Ltd. is a Chinese multinational conglomerate with animation, toy, mass media asset and entertainment company headquartered created by Cai Dongqing in 1993.
