The GRT compete ratings with local municipal broadcasters (e.g. Guangzhou Broadcasting Network) and Hong Kong's TVB network in the province.
GRT was formed on 23 April 2014 after the merge of Guangdong Television (GDTV), Radio Guangdong, Southern Media Corporation, and Television Southern (TVS). [1]

The Southern Media Corporation (SMC) is a television network based in Guangzhou, Guangdong. It was found on 18 January 2004 between the merge of Guangdong Television (GDTV) and Southern Television (TVS). At the same time the television network expanded its service to Hong Kong, Macau and North America to compete with Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) and Asia Television (aTV), other major Cantonese language TV networks.
Harry Harding, also known as Hazza Harding and simply his stage name Hazza, is a journalist, television presenter, radio host and singer previously based in China. His debut single, "Let Go", was released on iTunes 8 August 2012, along with a music video that was shot in Australia.
