Antigone is a 2019 Canadian drama film directed by Sophie Deraspe. An adaptation of the ancient Greek play Antigone by Sophocles, the film transposes the story to a modern-day refugee family in Montreal. The cast includes Nahéma Ricci as Antigone, with Rawad El-Zein, Hakim Brahimi, Rachida Oussaada, and Nour Belkhiria. It was filmed in Greater Montreal in 2018.

Sympathy for the Devil is a 2019 war drama film directed by Guillaume de Fontenay and released in 2019. Based on the book of the same name by French war correspondent Paul Marchand, the film stars Niels Schneider as Marchand covering the Bosnian War in the 1990s.

The Far Shore is a Canadian drama film, directed by David Uloth and released in 2018. The film centres on teenage sisters Océane and Marine Beauregard, who are coming of age in the aftermath of the death of their father André, while their mother Catherine is struggling to cope with the loss or properly take care of her daughters.

<i>Gurov and Anna</i> 2014 Canadian film

Gurov and Anna is a Canadian drama film, directed by Rafaël Ouellet and released in 2014. The film stars Andreas Apergis as Ben, a literature professor in Montreal who is obsessed with Anton Chekhov's short story "The Lady with the Dog", and begins trying to act it out in his real life by commencing a love affair with his student Mercedes in which he can be the Gurov to her Anna.

Vues d'Afrique is an annual film festival in Montreal, Quebec. It is devoted primarily to African film, although it also includes some Canadian films about African Canadian culture.

The 2022 edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma, the 51st edition in the event's history, took place from October 5 to 16, 2022 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was marked by a return to full in-theatre staging following the COVID-19 pandemic having forced the festival to proceed fully or partially online in 2020 and 2021.
