This is a list of members who are sitting in the 19th Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin, the state parliament of Berlin, from 2023 to 2026. These members were elected in the 12 February 2023 state election. This was the second election to the 19th Abgeordnetenhaus, after the original November 2021 election was voided due to irregularities. [1] The new membership sat for the first time on 16 March 2023. [2]

Contents

The Abgeordnetenhaus has 159 members, 29 seats larger than its minimum size of 130. It comprises 52 members of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), 34 members each of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and Alliance 90/The Greens (GRÜNE), 22 members of The Left (LINKE), and 17 members of the Alternative for Germany (AfD). [3]

The President of the Abgeordnetenhaus is Cornelia Seibeld (CDU). [4] The Vice Presidents are Dennis Buchner (SPD) and Bahar Haghanipour (GRÜNE). [5]

Dennis Buchner is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) who is serving as President of the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin since 2021 to 2023. He has been a member of the Abgeordnetenhaus since 2011.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Berlin repeat state election</span> German state election

The 2023 Berlin repeat state election was held on 12 February 2023 to once again elect the 19th Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin. The 19th Abgeordnetenhaus was originally elected on 26 September 2021. On 16 November 2022, the Constitutional Court of the State of Berlin declared the results invalid due to numerous irregularities and ordered a repeat election within 90 days. A decision by the Federal Constitutional Court regarding five constitutional complaints is still pending, but will not be decided until after the repeat election. The incumbent government was a coalition of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), The Greens, and The Left led by Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey.
