Rocky Mountain is the name of nine distinct mountains located in the North Georgia mountains that are spread among six different counties in Georgia

Fannin County

  • Rocky Mountain, [1] elevation 3,080, is located west of Gaddistown, less than two miles (3 km) west of the Union County border. [2]

Gilmer County

Lumpkin County

  • A mountain called Rocky Mountain [5] with an elevation of 3,560 feet (1,090 m) is located south of Blood Mountain. [6] DeSoto Falls, one of the most popular waterfalls in Georgia, is on the southern flank of the mountain. It is the tallest mountain located completely within Lumpkin County. [7] Rocky Mountain is located within the boundaries of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Rabun County

Towns County

  • Rocky Mountain, [10] elevation 4,017 feet (1,224 m), is located on the Appalachian Trail along the boundary between Towns and White counties. [11] Via the Appalachian Trail, its summit of Rocky Mountain is located about 51.5 miles (82.9 km) from Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

Union County

  • 4,191-foot (1,277 m)Rocky Mountain [12] is located south of Brasstown Bald, Georgia's tallest peak. [13] It is within the boundaries of the Brasstown Wilderness. A peak called Rocky Knob, elevation 3,740 feet (1,140 m), is found directly south of the mountain's peak, on a spur or ridge of the mountain that is oriented north-south.
  • Rocky Mountain, [16] elevation 3,120 feet (950 m), is located about 112 miles northwest of Baxter, less than 1/2 mile east of the Union/Fannin county line. [17]

White County

  • Rocky Mountain [18] is located about nine miles (14 km) west of Helen and has an elevation of 3,525 feet (1,074 m). [19]

Blood Mountain is the highest peak on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail and the sixth-tallest mountain in Georgia, with an elevation of 4,458 feet (1,359 m). It is located on the border of Lumpkin County with Union County and is within the boundaries of the Chattahoochee National Forest and the Blood Mountain Wilderness. There are several waterfalls, hiking trails and other recreational areas in the vicinity. This mountain marks the southernmost range limit for many Northern and Appalachian species, especially for plant species.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rabun Bald</span>

Rabun Bald, with an elevation of 4,696 feet (1,431 m), is the second-highest peak in the U.S. state of Georgia; only Brasstown Bald 4,784 feet (1,458 m) is higher. It is immediately southeast of Sky Valley, Georgia, and is the tallest mountain in the county. An observation tower on the summit provides hikers with views that, on clear days, extend for more than 100 miles (160 km). The hike to the top of Rabun Bald is 5.8 miles (9.3 km) round trip via the Rabun Bald Trail. The Rabun Bald Trail connects with the Bartram Trail system, which passes over the top as it winds through northeast Georgia for 37 miles (60 km).

Dick's Knob or Dicks Knob, with an elevation of 4,620 feet (1,408 m), is the third-highest peak in the State of Georgia if using a 200 ft. prominence rule. It is located in Rabun County, Georgia within the Southern Nantahala Wilderness and is the second-highest mountain in the county.

Hightower Bald, with an elevation of 4,568 feet (1,392 m) is the fourth-highest peak in the US state of Georgia. It is located in Towns County, Georgia at the North Carolina state line and is within the boundaries of the Southern Nantahala Wilderness of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Tray Mountain, with an elevation of 4,430 ft (1,350 m) is the seventh-highest peak in Georgia. The boundary line between White and Towns counties bisects the mountain, but leaves the summit in Towns County. Habersham County lies on a lower part of the mountain, but not on the summit. Tray Mountain is within the borders of the Chattahoochee National Forest and is part of the Tray Mountain Wilderness. The mountain is referred to by some as the grandstand for viewing the Nantahala Mountains in North Carolina and the rest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia. The Appalachian Trail crosses the peak.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Cowrock Mountain</span> Mountain in Georgia, U.S.

Cowrock Mountain is a mountain that is located in Lumpkin and White counties in Georgia, United States. The mountain forms a north–south ridge. Its northern peak, Cowrock, has an elevation of 3,852 feet (1,174 m) and its southern peak, Cowrock Flat, has an elevation of 3,502 feet (1,067 m). The boundary line between Lumpkin and White counties follows the ridge formed by Cowrock Mountain. The peak called Cowrock is the highest point in Lumpkin County, forms the northeast corner of the county. The Appalachian Trail also crosses Cowrock Mountain. The mountain is located within the Raven Cliffs Wilderness in the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Black Mountain is located in Georgia USA on the boundary between Dawson and Gilmer counties. The summit is the highest point in Dawson County. It is in the Chattahoochee National Forest and is part of the Blue Ridge Wildlife Management Area.

Coosa Bald is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest and its peak is crossed by the Duncan Ridge Trail, a trail that connects with the Benton MacKaye Trail and the Appalachian Trail.

Blue Bluff is a cliff located in Union County, Georgia at the approximate midpoint of Locust Log Ridge. The elevation above the bluff is 4,106 feet. An overlook is accessible via the Arkaquah Trail. Blue Bluff is located east of Brasstown Bald in the Brasstown Wilderness.
