Germany also has 14 Biosphere Reserves, as well as 98 nature parks. Including the national protected areas, about 25% of Germany's area is national parks or nature parks.

A national park is a natural park in use for conservation purposes, created and protected by national governments. Often it is a reserve of natural, semi-natural, or developed land that a sovereign state declares or owns. Although individual nations designate their own national parks differently, there is a common idea: the conservation of 'wild nature' for posterity and as a symbol of national pride.

Protected areas or conservation areas are locations which receive protection because of their recognized natural, ecological or cultural values. There are several kinds of protected areas, which vary by level of protection depending on the enabling laws of each country or the regulations of the international organizations involved. Generally speaking though, protected areas are understood to be those in which human presence or at least the exploitation of natural resources is limited.

Swiss National Park National park in Switzerland

The Swiss National Park is located in the Western Rhaetian Alps, in eastern Switzerland. It is within the canton of Graubünden, between Zernez, S-chanf, Scuol, and the Fuorn Pass in the Engadin valley on the border with Italy.

Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park

Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park is one of the oldest provincial parks in British Columbia, established in 1922. The park has an area of 320.35 km2 (123.69 sq mi) and is located in the Selkirk Mountains in the West Kootenays region of BC. The park has three glaciers that feed over 30 alpine lakes which are the headwaters of many creeks.

Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park Protected area in South Australia

The Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park is a protected area located in the Australian state of South Australia in the suburb of Flaxman Valley about 80 kilometres (50 mi) north-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) south-east of the town of Tanunda.

Georgia has a long history of establishing Protected Areas dating back to 1912 when the Lagodekhi Strict Nature Reserve was created. Nowadays, protected areas make up to 7% of the country's territory and about 75% of protected areas are covered by forests. Total number of protected areas in Georgia — 89. In Georgia there are 14 Strict Nature Reserves, 12 National Parks, 20 Managed Nature Reserves, 40 Natural Monuments, 2 Ramsar sites and 1 Protected Landscape. Management and coordination of the Protected Areas is implemented by a Legal Entity of Public Law Protected Areas Agency of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia. Franconian Heights Nature Park

The Franconian Heights Nature Park is a nature park in Germany that covers an area of approximately 1,100 square kilometres. It is located northeast of the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria and covers most of the hill ridge known as the Franconian Heights, as well as areas to the west and up to the Sulzach. The nature park is in one of the sunniest areas of southern Germany and offers a very varied landscape with mixed forests, rivers, vineyards and dry habitats.

Giles Conservation Park is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located approximately 10 km (6.2 mi) east of the state capital of Adelaide. It was declared in 2007 and has an area of 109 ha. Previously, the land was the eastern portion of the Horsnell Gully Conservation Park. It was named after the family of Charles Giles who is reported as being a pioneer in the fields of horticulture and floriculture in South Australia.

Waldegrave Islands Conservation Park is a protected area located on the following islands within the Investigator Group in South Australia: the Waldegrave Island, Little Waldegrave Island and the Watchers.

Nuyts Reef Conservation Park is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia associated with Nuyts Reef, which is located off the state's west coast in the Great Australian Bight about 29 kilometres west south-west of Fowlers Bay.

Tusheti National Park

The Tusheti National Park in eastern Georgia is one of the eight new protected areas approved by Parliament of Georgia on 22 April 2003.

Paranki Lagoon Conservation Park is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the state's south-east in the gazetted locality of West Range about 14 kilometres north of the town of Kingston SE. The conservation park was proclaimed under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972 on 16 October 2014 in respect to an area of land that:

… was a significant feeding ground for waterbirds and waders in the South East. Because it is fed by groundwater, the lake tends to fill earlier in winter and holds water longer in summer than most other lakes in the area. In the past, it has hosted up to 30,000 banded stilt, which are listed as vulnerable under the National Parks and Wildlife Act, and 40,000 waterfowl. Regular seasonal bird counts have also found it is an important feeding ground for a number of migratory species that use the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. These are birds like the sharp-tailed sandpiper, curlew sandpiper and red-necked stint, which are the subject of a number of international protection agreements.

Monarto Conservation Park is a protected area located in the Australian state of South Australia in the suburb of Monarto South about 53 kilometres (33 mi) south-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) south-west of the town of Murray Bridge.

Javakheti National Park

The National Park Javakheti is located in the Ninotsminda Municipality in south of Georgia on the border with Armenia and Turkey in the Samtskhe–Javakheti region. The park is part of a transboundary protected area: in neighbouring Armenia, it joins the Lake Arpi National Park.

Ivory Coast of Sviatoslav National Nature Park

Ivory Coast of Sviatoslav National Nature Park is situated on the north coast of the Black Sea is southern Ukraine. It covers portions of Dnieper–Bug estuary, the Kinburn Peninsula just south of the estuary, and Yahorlyk Bay a shallow bay of the Black Sea itself. Adjacent to the site along the coast is the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve. The various tracts protect and display the steppe ecology of south Ukraine and the adjacent waters. The park is in the administrative districts of Ochakiv Raion and Berezanka Raion in Mykolaiv Oblast.
