Burton upon Trent, also known as Burton-on-Trent or simply Burton, is a market town in the borough of East Staffordshire in the county of Staffordshire, England, close to the border with Derbyshire. At the 2021 census, it had a population of 76,270. The demonym for residents of the town is Burtonian. Burton is located on the River Trent 11 miles (18 km) south-west of Derby and 20 miles (32 km) south of the Peak District National Park.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Burton Albion F.C.</span> Association football club in England

Burton Albion Football Club is a professional association football club in the town of Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, England. The team competes in League One, the third level of the English football league system. The club moved its home ground in 2005 to the Pirelli Stadium from Eton Park. The club's nickname, The Brewers, evokes the brewing heritage of Burton upon Trent.

Baron Gretton, of Stapleford in the County of Leicester, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1944 for the brewer and Conservative politician John Gretton. He was head of the brewery firm of Bass, Ratcliff & Gretton Ltd of Burton upon Trent and also represented Derbyshire South, Rutland and Burton in Parliament. His son, the second Baron, also represented Burton in the House of Commons as a Conservative. As of 2017 the title is held by the latter's grandson, the fourth Baron, who succeeded his father in 1989. His mother, Jennifer Gretton, Lady Gretton, was Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire between 2003 and 2018.

Bass Brewery was founded in 1777 by William Bass in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, England. The main brand was Bass Pale Ale, once the highest-selling beer in the UK. By 1877, Bass had become the largest brewery in the world, with an annual output of one million barrels. Its pale ale was exported throughout the British Empire, and the company's red triangle became the UK's first registered trade mark.

Winshill is an area to the east of the town of Burton upon Trent, in the borough of East Staffordshire, England.

John Gretton, 1st Baron Gretton, was a British businessman and Conservative politician. Gretton won two gold medals in the 1900 Olympic Games. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for 46 years, representing three constituencies in that period.

Colonel Robert Frederick Ratcliff was an English brewer, Territorial Army officer and politician who represented Burton from 1900 to 1918.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Bass Charity Vase</span> Football tournament

The Bass Charity Vase is a friendly association football tournament founded in 1889 in Burton upon Trent to raise funds for medical and hospital charities. The trophy was donated by Lord Burton and Hamar Bass the great-grandsons of William Bass, the founder of the Bass Brewery. The trophy itself is made from gold and inscribed with the names of all previous winners. It is reputed to be one of the most valuable trophies in English football. The first final was played in 1890 and was won by Derby County, who remain as of 2020 the most successful club, with 20 titles.

The 2014–15 season was Burton Albion's sixth consecutive season in League Two. They finished 6th in the previous season but failed to get promotion via the playoffs. It was Gary Rowett's third season as manager of the club, he would leave in November to join Birmingham City. The club would appoint former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and under his leadership the club finished first earning promotion to the Football League One for the first time in the club's history.

The 2015–16 season was Burton Albion's 66th season in their history and first ever in League One after gaining promotion the previous season. Along with League One, the club also took part in the FA Cup, League Cup and JP Trophy. The season covers the period from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016.

The 2016–17 season was Burton Albion's 67th season in their history and first ever in the Championship after gaining promotion the previous season. Along with competing in the Championship, the club also participated in the FA Cup and EFL Cup. The club finished 20th in the league table, was knocked out the third round of the FA Cup and knocked out of the second round of the EFL Cup. The season covered the period from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017.

The 2017–18 season was Burton Albion's 68th season in their history and second consecutive season in the Championship. Along with competing in the Championship, the club will also participate in the FA Cup and League Cup. The season covered the period from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018.

The 2018–19 EFL Cup was the 59th season of the EFL Cup. Also known as the Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons, the competition was open to all 92 clubs participating in the Premier League and the English Football League. The first round was played on 14 August 2018, ten days after the start of the Football League season. Manchester City successfully defended their title, their first step in becoming the first English team to complete a domestic treble for the football season, as they later won the 2018–19 Premier League and the 2018–19 FA Cup. The final was held at Wembley Stadium in London on 24 February 2019.

The 2018–19 season was Burton Albion's 69th season in their history and their second in League One, following relegation from the Championship, the previous season. Along with competing in the League One, the club also participated in the FA Cup, League Cup and League Trophy. The season ran from 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019.

The 2019–20 season was Burton Albion's 70th season in their history and their third in League One. Along with competing in the League One, the club also participated in the FA Cup, League Cup and League Trophy. The season ran from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020.

The 2021–22 season is Burton Albion's 72nd year in their history and fourth consecutive season in League One. Along with the league, the club will also compete in the FA Cup, the EFL Cup and the EFL Trophy. The season covers the period from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.

The 2022–23 season is the 73rd season in the existence of Burton Albion Football Club and the club's fifth consecutive season in League One. In addition to the league, they will also compete in the 2022–23 FA Cup, the 2022–23 EFL Cup and the 2022–23 EFL Trophy.

The 2023–24 season is the 74th season in the history of Burton Albion and their sixth consecutive season in League One. The club are participating in League One, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, and the 2023–24 EFL Trophy.

William Benjamin Callister Radcliffe is a professional footballer currently playing as a midfielder for Gateshead on loan from EFL Championship club Derby County.
