Mackay & District Rugby League is the governing body for rugby league and the principal competition in Mackay, Queensland. Founded in 1919, the competition contains eight clubs who compete across three men's grades and one women's grade. [2]

Representative sides

Mackay & District Rugby League selects representative sides for the Queensland Cup and Mal Meninga Cup (Under 18's) state leagues, known as the Mackay Cutters. They were formerly known as the Mackay Sea Eagles during the 1990s.

Mackay Juniors

The Mackay Junior Rugby League (the Junior Sea Eagles) runs a nine club juniors competitions with grades ranging from under 6's to under 16's. [6] Mackay's juniors competed in the Cyril Connell Cup state league as the Mackay Cutters.

The Queensland Cup, currently known as the Hostplus Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the highest-level regional rugby league football competition in Queensland, Australia. It is run by the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) and is contested by fifteen teams, thirteen of which are based in Queensland, with one based in New South Wales and one in Central Province, Papua New Guinea.

The Mackay Cutters are a semi-professional rugby league football club based in Mackay, Queensland. They compete in Queensland's top rugby league competition, the Queensland Cup. The club was admitted to the Queensland Cup in 2007, alongside the Northern Pride, and first competed in the 2008 season.

The Cairns District Rugby League was formed on 5 August 1918 and is the administrative body for the game of rugby league football in Cairns, Queensland. The CDRL runs senior, junior and women's club competitions and has its headquarters at Barlow Park. The competition changed its name to Far North Queensland Rugby League in 2023.
