Mackenzie Holmes (born November 1, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the Seattle Storm of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the Indiana Hoosiers.
Holmes played basketball for Gorham High School in Gorham, Maine. She won state titles in each of her first two years. [1] As a senior, Holmes averaged 30.1 points, 16.7 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game, and was named Maine Gatorade Player of the Year. She was a three-time Southwestern Maine Activities Association Player of the Year. [2] Holmes left as her school's all-time leader in points, rebounds and blocks. [3] Rated a five-star recruit by ESPN, [4] she committed to playing college basketball for Indiana over offers from Iowa State, Boston College, Belmont and James Madison. [5]
As a freshman at Indiana, Holmes averaged 10.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, making the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. She set the program record for field goal percentage (63.4). [6] Holmes entered a starting role in her sophomore season. [7] She averaged 17.8 points and 7.6 rebounds while leading the Big Ten with three blocks per game. Holmes was named first-team All-Big Ten, made the media All-Defensive Team and became the first player in program history to earn Associated Press All-American honorable mention. [8] As a junior, she averaged 15.2 points and seven rebounds per game, earning second-team All-Big Ten recognition. [9]
On December 29, 2022, Holmes posted 32 points and 12 rebounds in an 83–78 loss to Michigan State. [10] On February 13, 2023, she recorded a career-high 33 points in an 83–59 win over Ohio State. [11] Holmes led Indiana to the Big Ten regular season title and its most wins in program history. [12] As a senior, she averaged 22.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game, and set program records in field goal percentage (68.0) and field goals made (281). [13] Holmes was named a unanimous first-team All-American, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten. [14] She opted to return to Indiana for her fifth season of eligibility. Holmes was selected in the 2024 WNBA draft as the 26 overall pick by the Seattle Storm. She is undergoing knee surgery and will be unavailable for the 2024 season but plans to be ready for training camp in 2025. [16]

Calbert Nathaniel Cheaney is an American basketball coach and former player who serves as Director of player development for the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball of the Big Ten. He starred as a player for the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball from 1989 to 1993 under coach Bob Knight. Cheaney ended his career as a three-time All-American and remains the Big Ten's all-time leading scorer with 2,613 career points. He led Indiana to a 105–27 record and the NCAA Tournament all four years, including a Final Four appearance in 1992.
Stephanie Joanne White is a former professional basketball player and the head coach of the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA. She was previously head coach of the Vanderbilt Commodores women's basketball team from 2016 to 2021. Prior to Vanderbilt, she was the head coach of the Indiana Fever of the WNBA for the 2015 and 2016 season. As an intercollegiate athlete, she was named the winner of the Wade Trophy in 1999, which recognizes the top female basketball player in the nation.
Jenna Smith is an American former professional basketball center. She was drafted in the second round of the 2010 WNBA draft by the Washington Mystics, having previously played college basketball for the University of Illinois Fighting Illini where she earned First team All-Big Ten honors in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Ali Patberg is an assistant coach and former player for the Indiana Hoosiers women's basketball team. For her basketball experience, Patberg and Columbus North High School won the IHSAA state event in 2015 for 4A teams. That year, her teams won the McDonald's All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic. She was also part of the American team that won the 2015 FIBA Under-19 World Championship for Women. Upon leaving Columbus North that year, she set multiple career records for the school while accumulating 2026 points.

They were led by third-year head coach, and former Indiana standout, Mike Woodson. The team played its home games at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana, as a member of the Big Ten Conference. The season officially began with the annual event, Hoosier Hysteria, on Friday, October 20, 2023.
