Bangor is a city in and the county seat of Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The city proper has a population of 31,753, making it the state's third-most populous city, behind Portland (68,408) and Lewiston (37,121). Bangor is known as the "Queen City."

Formerly known as Portland Stadium, it was renamed in 1989 to honor James J. Fitzpatrick, one of the most respected figures in Maine athletic history.

John Bapst Memorial High School is a private, independent, college preparatory high school in Bangor, Maine, United States. It serves approximately 500 ninth through twelfth grade students from 50 different communities in the region. The majority of students who attend John Bapst Memorial High school come from the towns of Orrington, Glenburn, Veazie, Dedham, School Administrative District 63, Milford, Bradley, and Orland. In 2011-2012 the school became a residential international school and now also serves approximately 50 international students from China, Vietnam, Korea, Kazakhstan, Spain, Germany, Austria, Albania, Egypt, Mongolia and elsewhere.

It is an academic center for Acadian and French American culture and heritage, and French-speaking Mainers from throughout the state. It currently has an enrollment of 1,557 students. Maine Tide was an American women's soccer team 2007-2011 The team was a member of the Women's Premier Soccer League, the third tier of women's soccer in the United States and Canada. The team played in the North Division of the East Conference.
GPS Portland Phoenix was an American soccer team based in Portland, Maine. Founded in 2009, the team played in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference. It has not played since 2019.
David Masur is a retired American soccer midfielder who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League, American Professional Soccer League and USISL. He is the head coach of the St. John's University men's soccer team. He was the 1996 NCAA Division I Coach of the Year and led the Red Storm to the 1996 NCAA national championship.
The 2010 National Premier Soccer League season is the 8th season of the NPSL. The season began on April 3, 2010, and ended with the NPSL Championship Game in August. The NPSL had planned for form a Winter league that would play from September 2010 to March 2011 but when only three clubs were willing to participate the plans were dropped. Those three clubs eventually ended up forming the SPSL for that Fall, though that league would fold the following Spring.
The Husson Eagles football team represents Husson University in college football at the NCAA Division III level. The Eagles are members of the Conference of New England (CNE), fielding its team in the CNE since 2019. The Eagles play their home games at the Winkin Sports Complex in Bangor, Maine.
John W. Winkin Jr. was an American baseball coach, scout, broadcaster, journalist and collegiate athletics administrator. Winkin led the University of Maine Black Bears baseball team to six College World Series berths in an 11-year span. In 2007, at age 87, he was the oldest active head coach in any collegiate sport at any NCAA level. In all, 92 of his former players wound up signing professional baseball contracts. Elected to 11 different halls of fame, including the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013, he finished his college baseball coaching career in 2008 with 1,043 total wins, which ranks 52nd all-time among NCAA head coaches. He died in 2014.
Caroline Doris Gentile was an American academic and physical education instructor. The longest-serving faculty member of the University of Maine at Presque Isle, she joined the staff in 1946 and developed the curriculum for the physical education department. She continued as a classroom instructor until her retirement in 2005. She also made the largest-ever gift to the university, a $500,000 donation toward the establishment of a health and physical education complex which was named in her honor. She was inducted into the Maine Women's Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honors in 2003.

In its fifth season under head coach Harold Westerman, the team compiled a 5–1–1 record, finished third out of the six teams in the Yankee Conference, and won the Maine "State Series" championship. The team played its home games at Alumni Field in Orono, Maine. James Duffy and John Small were the team captains.

In its second season under head coach Harold Westerman, the team compiled a 4–3 record and finished in a three-way tie for the Yankee Conference championship. The team played its home games at Alumni Field in Orono, Maine. John Butterfield and Phil Butterfield, Jr., were the team captains.
