History

The company was founded in 1963. [1] In 2010, the company penalised its authorised trader for faking trades through NCBO. [5]

On 26 September 2012, an outlet at Penang was set up. [6] As at 15 July 2021, the company had more than 250,000 clients. [7]

Digitalisation

In 2010, the company launched its online platform. [8] In 2012, the company transitioned into the digital market with M+ Online platform. In 2020, the platform continued to be developed with collaboration from Alibaba Cloud. [9] [10]

On 24 May 2023, the company introduced M+ Global as a platform accessible to trades at the United States and Hong Kong. [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] The platform already had around 10,000 users registered at the time, since it was launched a month earlier. The platform offers access to stocks listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Nasdaq. [16] It is the first platform in Malaysia to work with Nasdaq to provide real-time data. Sin Chew Jit Poh was a Singapore newspaper. It was founded by Aw Boon Haw in Singapore. In the 1960s, it started its Malaysian bureau in Petaling Jaya, with full function printing house. Malaysian edition started to become a separate sister newspaper since they have the full function from news report writing to printing. Due to the Newspaper and Printing Presses Act enacted in 1974, starting from 1975, the two newspaper in Singapore and Malaysia had a separate ownership, which the Singapore edition was owned by Sin Chew Jit Poh (Singapore) Limited; the Malaysian edition was sold by Sin Poh Amalgamated in 1982.

Major General Tun Leong Yew Koh was a Malayan politician who served as the 1st Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Malacca from the independence of the Federation of Malaya in August 1957 to August 1959 and Minister of Health from 1955 to 1956, Minister of Health and Social Welfare from 1956 to 1957 and Minister of Justice from 1959 to his death in January 1963. Being a Kuomintang member himself and serving under the Republic of China government from 1932 and later become the leader of Overseas Chinese Anti-Japanese Army branch in Perak from 1942 until 1945, he is one of the founders of the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA) in 1949 and the party first secretary-general.

Jalan Datuk Wira Poh Ah Tiam, also known as Jalan Lorong Pandan, is a major highway in Malacca state, Malaysia. It was built in April 2007 and was named after former Malacca's State Assemblyman for Machap and also State Housing and Local Government Committee, Datuk Wira Poh Ah Tiam.

On 23 January 1976, while inside a bar at Jalan Besar, two patrons - Madikum Puspanathan and Visuvanathan Thillai Kannu - had a dispute with each other that resulted in Visuvanathan stabbing Madikum to death with a knife. Visuvanathan fled to Malaysia but he was eventually arrested two months after the stabbing and charged with murder after his extradition to Singapore. Although the defence sought to prove that Visuvanathan never meant to stab Madikum to death and he was drunk at the time of the crime, Visuvanathan was nonetheless found guilty of murdering Madikum and sentenced to death, after the trial court found that Visuvanathan had intentionally stabbed the victim and such that the injury inflicted was sufficient in the ordinary course of nature to cause death. In the aftermath, Visuvanathan's appeal was dismissed, and he was hanged on 25 May 1979.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Murder of Laura Yap Fui Kheng</span> 1981 murder of a former beauty queen in Malaysia

On 4 May 1981, 25-year-old Laura Yap Fui Kheng, an air hostess and former beauty queen, was found murdered in her home at Petaling Jaya in Selangor, Malaysia. About two days after the murder, 21-year-old air conditioner repairman Lee Chee Wai was arrested and charged with murder. Evidence adduced during the trial showed that Lee had entered Yap's house on the excuse of wanting to repair her air conditioner, and he had strangled her to death while attempting to rape Yap. Lee was found guilty of murdering Yap and sentenced to death in October 1982. Lee's appeal was dismissed, and he was hanged on 18 January 1984.
