Marasmius limosus is a mushroom in the family Marasmiaceae. [1] [2]
Marasmius is a genus of mushroom-forming fungi in the family Marasmiaceae. It contains about 500 species of agarics, of which a few, such as Marasmius oreades, are edible. However, most members of this genus are small, unimpressive brown mushrooms. Their humble appearance contributes to their not being readily distinguishable to non-specialists, and they are therefore seldom collected by mushroom hunters. Several of the species are known to grow in the characteristic fairy ring pattern.
In biological nomenclature, a nomen novum, new replacement name is a scientific name that is created specifically to replace another scientific name, but only when this other name cannot be used for technical, nomenclatural reasons. It does not apply when a name is changed for taxonomic reasons. It is frequently abbreviated, e.g.nomen nov., nom. nov..

While his interest included flowering plants, as noted by his Flora of the Miami Valley, Ohio, his special interest was in fungi. Morgan worked as a teacher in Dayton. He studied the botany of the Great Miami River, publishing in 1878 the Flora of the Miami River, Ohio; Morgan also showed particular interest in mycology and bryology. A.P. Morgan was a mentor to the prominent American mycologist Curtis Gates Lloyd. His correspondence with Lloyd is stored in the Lloyd Library and Museum in Cincinnati. Lloyds portion of the correspondence is stored in the Ada Hayden Herbarium at Iowa state university. Morgans collection of preserved fungi can also be found at the Ada Hayden Herbarium along with Laura Morgans gouache illustrations of fungi that could not be preserved.
Paul Heinemann was a Belgian botanist and mycologist. Heinemann specialized in African mycology. In his long career, he published 435 names, including 2 families, 6 genera, 346 species, and 40 varieties. His collections of dried specimens, numbering about 7000, are preserved in the herbaria of the University Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in Gembloux and of the National Botanic Garden of Belgium, in Meise. The fungal genus Heinemannomyces was named in his honor, as were the species Agaricus heinemannianus, Marasmius heinemannianus, and Peyritschiella heinemanniana.
Naiadolina is an agaric fungal genus that produces striking, yellowish fruit bodies on sedges in wetlands in eastern Canada. The lamellae are merulioid, forked and anastomosing. The type species was previously classified as a Marasmius in the Marasmiaceae, but phylogenetically, Naiadolina flavomerulina is in the Physalacriaceae sister to the genus Cryptomarasmius.

The species was first described in 1997, and the species name is derived from Latin limosus (muddy). J. limosus was the first species assigned to Janibacter, and is the type species for the genus.
Schoenus limosus is a species of sedge endemic to the KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape provinces of South Africa. It is predominantly a species of wet grasslands, which explains its common name.
