The Marriott St. Louis Grand Hotel is a hotel located in the Washington Avenue Historic District in Downtown St. Louis, Missouri. The hotel was renovated in 2015.
The Hotel Statler St. Louis was designed by George B. Post & Sons and was built in 1917 as part of the Statler Hotels chain. It was the first air-conditioned hotel in the United States. Statler Hotels was bought by Hilton in 1954, and the hotel became The Statler Hilton in 1958. It was sold to Towne Realty Company of Milwaukee in 1966 and renamed The St. Louis Gateway Hotel. [2] The hotel was sold to Denver businessman Victor Sayyah and St. Louis politician Peter J. Webbe in 1981 for $3.2 million. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. [1] The hotel closed for a renovation in 1986, but caught fire on February 12, 1987 [3] and never reopened. The fire was determined to have been deliberately set.
The hotel sat empty for over a decade, until the city government pushed for its renovation as part of a 1000-room hotel to serve the adjacent America's Center. [4] Cleanup work began on the hotel in November 1999 at a cost of $5 million. The hotel was then renovated from 2000 to 2002 by Kimberly-Clark [5] and Historic Restoration Inc. at a cost of $265 million. [2] At this time, a new addition was constructed to the east. It was originally to have had 38 floors but was eventually reduced to match the height of the existing hotel. [6] The hotel was renamed the Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel.
The hotel was foreclosed on by its bondholders in 2009, after it failed to generate enough revenue to cover interest payments. [7] The hotel was sold in 2014 to Haberhill Inc. and was renovated from November 2014 to August 2015 at a cost of $30 million. At the completion of the work, it was renamed the Marriott St. Louis Grand Hotel. [8] [9]
The Statler Hotel company was one of the United States' early chains of hotels catering to traveling businessmen and tourists. It was founded by Ellsworth Milton Statler in Buffalo, New York.

The King Edward Hotel, built in 1923 as the Edwards Hotel, is an historic hotel in downtown Jackson, Mississippi. The second of two buildings located on the site at the corner of Capitol and Mill Streets, it was closed and vacant for nearly 40 years before renovations began in 2006. The hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, and declared a Mississippi Landmark in 1990. It was restored from 2007-2009 as a combination of apartments and the Hilton Garden Inn Jackson Downtown, which opened on December 17, 2009. It features the King Edward Grill, King Edward Bar, Pavilion Pantry convenience mart, Seattle's Best Coffee shop, and a fitness center.
The Detroit Statler Hotel was a building located at 1539 Washington Boulevard across from Grand Circus Park between the David Whitney Building and the Hotel Tuller in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. In addition to Washington Boulevard, the hotel also fronted Bagley Street and Park Avenue.

The hotel was also host for a few movie stars such as Bob Hope, Clark Gable, and Elvis Presley. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 2, 1984. The building was restored in the late 1990s and is still in use today as the Courtyard Fort Worth Downtown/Blackstone, although it is still known as the "Blackstone Hotel" to those who live in or have ties to Fort Worth.

The Courtyard St. Louis Downtown/Convention Center is a historic hotel in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. The 25-story hotel opened on September 2, 1929 as the Lennox Hotel and was the tallest hotel in the city upon its opening. Designed by Preston J. Bradshaw in the Renaissance Revival style, the building features terra cotta faces and cornices. The hotel, along with the Hotel Statler and the Mayfair Hotel, was built as part of a commercial boom in downtown St. Louis in the 1920s. It was the last hotel built in the area before the Great Depression, and another hotel did not open in downtown St. Louis until 1963. The Lennox Hotel eventually closed after newer hotels were built in the 1970s. The hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 6, 1984.
