1 South Brisbane Labor MP and former Premier Anna Bligh resigned on 30 March 2012. Labor candidate Jackie Trad won the resulting by-election on 28 April 2012.
2 Condamine MP Ray Hopper resigned from the Liberal National Party and joined Katter's Australian Party on 24 November 2012.
3 Gaven MP Alex Douglas and Yeerongpilly MP Carl Judge resigned from the Liberal National Party on 29 November 2012 and subsequently sat as independents until they joined the Palmer United Party on 30 April 2013. Douglas subsequently resigned from the Palmer United Party in August 2014 and sat again as an independent. Judge resigned from the Palmer United Party in October 2014 and sat again as an independent. 4 Redcliffe MP Scott Driscoll was suspended from the Liberal National Party on 25 March 2013, and resigned from the party the following month. He subsequently sat as an independent until he resigned from Parliament on 19 November 2013. Labor candidate Yvette D'Ath won the resulting by-election on 22 February 2014.
5 Stafford Liberal National MP Chris Davis resigned on 23 May 2014. Labor candidate Anthony Lynham won the resulting by-election on 19 July 2014.

The Liberal National Party of Queensland (LNP) is a major political party in Queensland, Australia. An election was held in the Australian state of Queensland on 17 February 2001 to elect the 89 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The result of the election was the return of the Labor Party (ALP) government of Premier Peter Beattie, with an increased majority. Labor won 66 seats, easily the most it has ever won in Queensland and one of Labor's best-ever results nationwide. There was a 10.07% swing towards Labor, while One Nation suffered a 13.98% swing against it, losing eight seats.

Robert Desmond Messenger is an Australian politician. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland representing the Electoral district of Burnett. Originally a member of the Queensland branch of the Nationals, he became a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland when that party was formed from the union of the Queensland branches of the National Party and the Liberal Party in 2008. He resigned from the Liberal Nationals in 2010 and became an Independent. He lost his seat to the LNP at the 2012 election. Since then he has been involved in the Palmer United Party and was an adviser to Tasmanian Senator Jacqui Lambie.

Alexander Rodney Douglas is a former Australian politician. He was a National Party member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from April to September 2006, representing the electorate of Gaven. He was elected for the same seat as a Liberal National Party member in 2009, and re-elected in 2012.

The 2015 Queensland state election was held on 31 January 2015 to elect all 89 members of the unicameral Legislative Assembly of Queensland.

Carl John Judge is an Australian politician. He served as a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 2012 to 2015. He was elected as a member of the Liberal National Party, but quit the party to sit as an independent on 29 November 2012. He then joined the new United Australia Party (UAP) on 30 April 2013,. The UAP was subsequently rebranded as the Palmer United Party and Judge later became an independent again on 8 October 2014.

The United Australia Party (UAP), formerly known as Clive Palmer's United Australia Party and the Palmer United Party (PUP), is a currently deregistered Australian political party formed by mining magnate Clive Palmer in April 2013. The party was deregistered by the Australian Electoral Commission in 2017, revived and re-registered in 2018, and voluntarily deregistered in 2022.. The party fielded candidates in all 150 House of Representatives seats at the 2013 federal election. Palmer, the party's leader, was elected to the Division of Fairfax and it reached a peak of three senators following the rerun of the Western Australian senate election in 2014. When the party was revived under its original name in 2018, it was represented by ex-One Nation senator Brian Burston in the federal parliament.

This is a list of members of the Australian Senate between July 2014 and May 2016. Half of the state senators had been elected at the August 2010 election and had terms due to finish on 30 June 2017; the other half of the state senators were elected at the September 2013 election and had terms due to finish on 30 June 2020. The territory senators were elected at the September 2013 election and their terms ended at the dissolution of the House of Representatives, which was May 2016. The new Senate first met in July 2014, with state senators elected in 2013 sworn in on 7 July 2014. Ascertaining the chamber's final composition was complicated by the loss of 1,375 ballot papers in Western Australia, leading to the Court of Disputed Returns voiding the result there, and necessitating a special Senate election in Western Australia.
