Miss Europe 1933 was the sixth annual Miss Europe and the fifth edition under French journalist Maurice de Waleffe. New Delegates from Norway and Scotland are competing in Miss Europe. Withdraws are Miss Argentina and Miss Paris' South American Colony.

Contents

Charlotte Hartmann, who had been crowned Miss Germany before the Nazi seizure of power, was not allowed to attend by the new government but competed after the Miss Europe pageant allowed her to compete in secret.

The Miss Texas USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state Texas in the Miss USA pageant, and the name of the title held by that winner. This pageant is part of the Miss USA Organization, owned by Texas native Crystle Stewart, herself a Miss USA for 2008.

Miss Europe is a beauty pageant for women from all over Europe. It was established in February 1927 by Fanamet, the European distributor of Paramount, as a one-off event where the winner was to star in a film directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. After the initial twelve-person jury couldn't decide between 10 contestants, a runoff election was held where Murnau chose the winner. Murnau ended up choosing Štefica Vidačić of Yugoslavia as the winner and the first ever Miss Europe. Miss Europe was later re-established in December 1928 by French journalist Maurice de Waleffe (1874–1946), who also created, in 1920, what by 1927 had become the Miss France pageant. Miss Europe, under de Waleffe, was first held at the Paris Opera with participants from 18 countries. The first contest under de Waleffe did not occur until February 1929.

Miss United Kingdom is a title held by the highest-ranked contestant from the UK in the Miss World pageant. The winner sometimes competes at Miss International and Miss Supranational the following year under the Britain, England or United Kingdom banner. From 1958 to 1999, Miss United Kingdom was a national beauty pageant held to choose a representative for the Miss World Pageant. In 1999, Scotland and Wales had their own contestants at Miss World, and in 2000, England and Northern Ireland sent their own representatives. The existing organization now runs the Miss England competition.

Miss Germany is a national beauty pageant in Germany. The contest was held for the first time in 1927.

Michelle McLean of Namibia was crowned by Lupita Jones of Mexico at the event's conclusion. This is the first and so far only time that Namibia won the pageant.

Miss World 1991, the 41st edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 28 December 1991 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The winner was Ninibeth Leal representing Venezuela. She was crowned by Gina Tolleson of the United States. Miss World 1991 was scheduled to be held in the Dominican Republic. Due to scheduling difficulties, Miss World was first moved to Puerto Rico, then to Atlanta, United States. Preliminary swimsuits in Miss World 1991 were held in South Africa. It was the first time the Miss World pageant was held in North America. This is the fourth time that Venezuela to win Miss World.

The Miss Universe New Zealand is a New Zealand national Beauty pageant which selects the delegates to participate in the international Miss Universe competition. Qualification for Miss Universe New Zealand is based on regional pageants and/or personal interviews.

Miss Chinese International Pageant 2008 was held on January 26, 2008 in Foshan, China, for the second consecutive year. The pageant was organized and broadcast by TVB in Hong Kong. Miss Chinese International 2007 Sarah Song of Sydney, Australia crowned Océane Zhu of Paris, France as the 20th Miss Chinese International. Zhu is the first ever winner from Europe.

Mireia Lalaguna of Spain crowned her successor Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico at the end of the event. It was the second time that the Miss World pageant held in the United States. It was the second time where Puerto Rico won Miss World, after Wilnelia Merced in 1975.

Miss Europe 1950 was the 14th edition of the Miss Europe pageant, held in Rimini, Italy on 9 September 1950. At the end of the event, Juliette Figueras of France crowned Hanni Schall of Austria as Miss Europe 1950.
