Miss World Ireland is a national Beauty pageant in Ireland. Winners of the competition represent Ireland at Miss World. Among the winners are Rosanna Davison, who went on to win Miss World 2003, and Pamela Uba, who in 2021 became the first black woman to win the Miss Ireland title.
The first winner of Miss Ireland was Violet Nolan in 1947. [1] The next winner, Eithne Dunne, came 5 years later in 1952. [1] Thereafter there has been a winner every year except 2020, when the competition was cancelled due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2003 the winner, Rosanna Davison, went on to win Miss World 2003.
In 2012 the winner Marie Hughes, representing County Mayo, was stripped of her title when it was discovered that she was "too old", as she was aged 25 and would have been 26 at the time of the Miss World competition. She was replaced by the runner-up, Rebecca Maguire, aged 20. [2]
In 2021, following the cancellation of the competition the previous year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pamela Uba became the first black woman to win the Miss Ireland title. [3]

Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Morley's widow, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant. Along with Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth, it is one of the Big Four beauty pageants.
Rosanna Diane Davison is an Irish actress, singer, writer, model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss World 2003. She is the daughter of musician Chris de Burgh, and the song "For Rosanna" was written by her father for his 1986 album, Into the Light in her honour. Davison is a qualified nutritional therapist and promotes the health benefits of a plant-based diet.
Miss World 2003 was the 53rd edition of the Miss World pageant, held at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China on 6 December 2003. It was the first time that the Miss World pageant held in China.
María Julia "Maju" Mantilla García is a Peruvian actress, dancer, model, teacher and beauty queen who won Miss World 2004 in China.

The Miss Virginia competition is a scholarship pageant for women, with the titleholder representing Virginia in the Miss America pageant. In 2022 the brand of Miss Angola also used the name of Miss Angola Universo or Miss Universo Angola, this aims to be the organization's concern to the Miss Universe competition.
Miss Scotland is a national beauty pageant in Scotland. Entrants must hold a British passport to enter. The contest, whose title is owned by the Miss World organisation, is organised each year by Janis Sue Smith Director of The Catwalk Academy
Holly Carpenter is an Irish model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Ireland 2011 on 13 August 2011. She represented Ireland in the Miss World pageant held on 6 November 2011 in London, England.

Miss World 2015, the 65th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 19 December 2015 at the outdoor arena of the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China. 114 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown. Rolene Strauss of South Africa crowned her successor Mireia Lalaguna of Spain at the end of the event. It was the first time in the history of Miss World that Spain won the pageant.

Pamela Uba is a Nigerian-Irish scientist, model and beauty pageant titleholder. She grew up in Ballyhaunis, County Mayo. As Miss Ireland 2021, she was selected to represent Ireland in the Miss World 2022 beauty pageant. Uba is the first black woman to win the Miss Ireland competition and represent Ireland for the Miss World competition.
JUST days after she was handed her Miss Ireland crown, Marie Hughes has been dethroned after it emerged she was too old to enter the beauty competition.
