Miss International 2017, the 57th Miss International pageant, was held on November 14, 2017 at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Kylie Verzosa of the Philippines crowned her successor Kevin Lilliana of Indonesia at the end of the event. [2] [3] This edition also saw the crowning of the first ever moslem women to win Miss International, and was the first to win one of the four major international pageants for Indonesia. [4] [5] [6]
The show was hosted by Tetsuya Bessho on his fourth consecutive year. Amy Ota co-hosted the event, with a performance by Chemistry. This is the second time in Miss International history that the finals night saw the return of the previous year's runners-up to crown their respective successors. [7] [8]
On April 4, 2017, it was announced during a broadcast conference by Akemi Shimomura, president of the International Cultural Association, that the 2017 pageant would be held in Tokyo Dome City Hall, Tokyo, Japan for the second consecutive year on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. [9] [10]
The 2017 edition saw the debuts of Cambodia, Cook Islands and Laos; [11] and the returns of Ethiopia has not competed since 2009, Czech Republic since 2010, Lithuania since 2013, Chile and Curacao since 2014, Mongolia and Paraguay since 2015. Argentina, Aruba, Cuba, Denmark, Guam, Ireland, Nigeria, Northern Marianas, Puerto Rico and Sri Lanka have withdrawn from the competition. [12]

Miss International is a Japan-based international major beauty pageant organized by the International Culture Association. First held in 1960, it is the fourth largest pageant in the world in terms of the number of national winners participating in the international contest.
Puteri Indonesia is a national beauty pageant in Indonesia. Puteri Indonesia is traditionally held in March, alongside the celebration of International Women's Day. The pageant annually sends its winner to represent the country at Miss International, one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. The pageant also sends representatives for Miss Supranational, Miss Charm, and Miss Cosmo pageants.
The Miss Nippon Contest is a Japanese beauty pageant. In the past 57 competitions, the total number of applications is 118,794 people and the Grand Prix is 55 people. It started in 1950 by the Yomiuri Shimbun and is held every year by the "Miss Nippon Association".
Miss International 2009, the 49th Miss International pageant, was held on November 28, 2009 at the Sichuan International Tennis Center in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. The pageant was originally scheduled to be held on November 7, 2009 at The Venetian Macao in Macau, but the host committee backed out. 65 contestants competed for the coveted title. Alejandra Andreu of Spain crowned Anagabriela Espinoza of Mexico as the new titleholder.

Puteri Indonesia 2017, the 21st Puteri Indonesia pageant was held on March 31, 2017, at Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta. Kezia Warouw, Puteri Indonesia 2016 of North Sulawesi crowned her successor Bunga Jelitha of Jakarta Special Capital Region 5 at the end of the event. All 38 contestants from 33 provinces competed for the crown. The winner will represent Indonesia at the Miss Universe 2017, while the runners-up will compete at the Miss International 2017, Miss Supranational 2017, and Miss Grand International 2017. Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere of France and Miss Grand International 2016 Ariska Putri Pertiwi of Indonesia attend at the Grand Final Show. Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova of Canada also attended the show as a judge.
Kevin Lilliana Junaedy is a presenter, and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss International 2017. She is the first Indonesian and the first Muslim women to win Miss International, and was the first to win one of the four major international pageants for Indonesia. Prior to winning Miss International, she was previously crowned as Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan 2017.

The pageant has been being organized by Miss Grand Japan Co., Ltd., headed by the first Miss Grand Japan Eriko Yoshii, since its establishment.
Miss Grand Japan 2018 was the 4th edition of the Miss Grand Japan pageant, held on July 30, 2018, at the WOMB Club, Shibuya, Tokyo. Fifteen contestants, who applied through an online application launched from December 24, 2017, to February 24, 2018, competed for the title.
Miss Grand Japan 2017 was the third edition of the Miss Grand Japan pageant, held on September 12, 2017, at the Selene Studio, Minato, Tokyo. Eight contestants from different prefectures competed for the title. At the end of the event, a 27-year-old MC and model from Kyoto, Erika Tsuji, was announced the winner, while Arisa Katsumoto of Fukui and Aya Kitoya of Kumamoto were named the first and second runners-up, respectively.
Miss Grand Japan 2023 was the ninth edition of the Miss Grand Japan pageant, held on July 16, 2023, at the Tokyo FM Hall of the Tokyo FM Center in Chiyoda, Tokyo. Fourteen candidates who qualified for the national pageant via an audition performed in March 2023 competed for the title, and a 26-year-old Tokyo-based Entrepreneur, Yayoi Machida, was elected the winner, and obtained right to represent Japan at the international parent contest, Miss Grand International 2023, to be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on October 25.
