The 61st Miss International Beauty Pageant 2023 |
Miss International 2023 was the 61st edition of the Miss International pageant, held at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, on 26 October 2023. [1]
Jasmin Selberg of Germany crowned Andrea Rubio of Venezuela as her successor at the end of the event, marking the ninth time that Venezuela won the competition - the most wins in the pageant's history.
On 30 March 2023, the Miss International Organization announced that the pageant will take place at the Yoyogi Gymnasium No. 2 in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, instead of the usual Tokyo Dome City Hall, on 26 October 2023. [2] [3] [4]
According to Stephen Diaz, head director of the International Cultural Association, the non-profit organization that organizes the pageant, the organization has set the limit of the number of contestants competing to eighty. [3] In the end, contestants from seventy countries and territories were selected to compete in the competition. Two contestants were selected to replace the original dethroned winner.
Stacy Montero was appointed as the new representative of Costa Rica to the pageant after Shakira Graham, the original Miss International Costa Rica, relinquished her title due to problems with the organization. [5] El Salvador appointed Daniella Hidalgo to represent in the pageant after Wendy Portillo, Queen of El Salvador 2023, relinquished her title for personal reasons. [6]
This edition marked the debuts of Bangladesh, Lesotho, [3] and Pakistan, and the returns of Angola, Côte D'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Estonia, Ghana, Lithuania, Martinique, Moldova, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. [7] Angola last competed in 2004, Martinique last competed in 2010, Estonia and Serbia last competed in 2014, Lithuania last competed in 2017, Moldova last competed in 2018, while the others last competed in 2019. Belarus, Cabo Verde, Germany, Haiti, Honduras, Italy, Kenya, Namibia, the Northern Mariana Islands, Romania, Slovakia, Togo, and Uzbekistan withdrew after their respective organizations failed to hold a national competition or appoint a delegate.

The Miss International Organization introduced several specific changes to the format for this edition. During the final competition, all contestants will only parade in evening gowns. [12] Fifteen semifinalists were chosen to compete in the final competition– twelve of which were chosen through the preliminary competition, while three were chosen through internet voting. The fifteen semi-finalists competed in the evening competition. Afterward, seven semifinalists advanced to compete in the question and answer round. [13]

Miss International 2017, the 57th Miss International pageant, was held on November 14, 2017 at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Kylie Verzosa of the Philippines crowned her successor Kevin Lilliana of Indonesia at the end of the event. This edition also saw the crowning of the first ever moslem women to win Miss International, and was the first to win one of the four major international pageants for Indonesia.
Señorita Colombia 2018 was the 66th edition of the Miss Colombia pageant. It was held at the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center in Cartagena on November 12, 2018.
Miss International 2019 was the 59th Miss International pageant, held on November 12, 2019, at Tokyo Dome City Hall in the Bunkyo district of Tokyo, Japan. Mariem Velazco of Venezuela crowned her successor, Sireethorn Leearamwat of Thailand, at the end of the event.
Miss International 2022 was the 60th edition of the Miss International pageant, held at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan, on 13 December 2022.
Miss World 2021 was the 70th edition of the Miss World pageant, held at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on 16 March 2022. The coronation was originally scheduled to be held on 16 December 2021 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum. However, the pageant was rescheduled to 16 March 2022 due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Puerto Rico.
Miss Earth 2021 was the 21st edition of the Miss Earth pageant, held in various locations virtually on November 21, 2021, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Miss Grand Colombia 2022 was the second Miss Grand Colombia pageant, held at the Hotel Grand Park in Bogotá, Colombia, on June 24, 2022.
Miss Grand Ecuador 2021 was the inaugural edition of the Miss Grand Ecuador beauty pageant, held on 26 June 2021, at the TC Televisión Studios in Guayaquil. Six contestants, qualified for the national stage through an online audition, competed for the title, of whom the a 20-year old medical student and model from Los Ríos, Andrea Aguilera, was elected the winner. The contest was showcased under the direction of Tahiz Panus and Miguel Panus, presidents of the Concurso Nacional de Belleza Ecuador, who have owned the Miss Grand Ecuador license since 2019.

Miss Grand Mexico 2023 was the inaugural edition of the Miss Grand Mexico pageant, held on 30 August 2023, at the Modular Inés Arredondo (MIA), Culiacán, Sinaloa. Five candidates competed for the title, of whom a 23-year-old marketing and communication student representing the state of Sinaloa, Fernanda Beltrán, was announced the winner. Meanwhile, the remaining candidates were named runners-up. Beltrán was crowned by Miss Grand Mexico 2022, Laysha Salazar, and will later represent the country at the Miss Grand International 2023 pageant, to be in Vietnam on October 25.
