Miss World 2016, the 66th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 18 December 2016, at the MGM National Harbor, Oxon Hill, Maryland, United States. 117 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown. Mireia Lalaguna of Spain crowned her successor Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico at the end of the event. It was the second time that the Miss World pageant held in the United States. It was the second time where Puerto Rico won Miss World, after Wilnelia Merced in 1975.
María Fernanda Aristizábal Urrea is a Colombian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Señorita Colombia 2019. Aristizábal is the first delegate from Quindío to ever be crowned Miss Colombia. She represented Colombia in Miss Universe 2022 and placed in the Top 16.

Previously, the country representatives were selected by the International Portfolio Agency headed by Elías Tobón and Mara Borrego, either by handpicking or through their national pageant, Miss Earth Colombia. Currently, the franchise belongs to the Bogota-based modeling agency, Casa De Reinas SAS which owns and runs the Miss Grand Colombia beauty contest since 2022.
Reinas del Paraguay is a national beauty pageant in Paraguay. It was founded in 2022 to select the Paraguayan representatives in the Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, Miss Earth and Reina Hispanoamericana pageants.
