Miss Universe Barbados is the national beauty pageant for selecting a delegate to represent Barbados at the Miss Universe pageant. The current titleholder is Hillary-Ann Williams of Bridgetown. [1]

History

Miss Barbados Universe sent its first contestant to Miss Universe in 1976 and has sent 11 delegates between 1976 and 2005. They have never sent a delegate for more than 5 years in a row. After the death of the national director Andy Niles in 2006, Candi Nicholls, a former member of Niles' team, took over the franchise. Niles had been national director from 2003 to 2005.

Between 2008 and 2015 Barbados was absent from the Miss Universe pageant.

Since 2016, Crown Events Inc. with national director Brian Green are the new management of the franchise.

Miss Puerto Rico is a national title bestowed on the women representing Puerto Rico in the most prestigious and relevant international beauty pageants. Currently, Miss Universe Puerto Rico selects the representative for Miss Universe, Miss World Puerto Rico for Miss World, Miss Earth Puerto Rico for Miss Earth and Miss Global, Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico(Our Beauty Puerto Rico) for Miss International, Miss Supranational, and Miss Grand International. No pageant is held to select the representative for Miss Intercontinental, with the delegate usually being selected from the group of semifinalists in Miss World Puerto Rico. Miss India or Femina Miss India is a national beauty pageant in India that annually selects representatives to compete in Miss World, one of the Big Four major international beauty pageants. It is organised by Femina, a women's magazine published by The Times Group. Since 2013, Femina also organises Miss Diva as a separate competition, with representatives competing at Miss Universe.

Miss Venezuela is a national Beauty pageant held in Venezuela. It is preceded by two or three months of preliminary events, with the awarding of corporate prizes. The final televised competition generally lasts about four hours and is broadcast live across Latin America by Venevisión and produced by the networks parent company Cisneros Group, with edited versions to the United States and Mexico on the Univision and Telemundo networks. From 2013 to 2015, the national contest was split into two separate pageants: Miss Venezuela and Miss Venezuela Mundo. The pageant is also closely observed by other countries seeking to level competition due to its illustrious record of pageant victories. The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria – often abbreviated as MBGN – is a pageant organised by Silverbird Group with the main purpose of sending representatives to international competitions. Originally known as Miss Universe Nigeria, it was renamed Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria after news publishers Daily Times lost their license to send delegates from rival contest Miss Nigeria to Miss World. Since 2005, the pageant has produced multiple representatives, but the MBGN World recipient is considered the overall winner. Miss Universe Nigeria was reestablished in 2023, breaking away from MBGN and operating as an entirely different pageant.

The Miss Sweden or Miss Universe Sweden, is the title of the Swedish beauty pageant, qualifying delegates to the Miss Universe competition. In 2009 the pageant renamed as Miss Universe Sweden and the first national final was held on 6 June 2009, the National Day of Sweden. Among the judges were Yvonne Ryding, Miss Universe 1984. The pageant is a late branch of the Miss Sweden contest. The director of the contest is Joakim Granberg of the Starworld Entertainment Corporation.

Miss Universe 1999 was the 48th Miss Universe pageant, held on 26 May 1999 at the Chaguaramas Convention Centre in Chaguaramas, Trinidad and Tobago. Mpule Kwelagobe of Botswana was crowned by Wendy Fitzwilliam of Trinidad and Tobago at the end of the event. This edition marks the most recent time that a first-time entry by any country has won Miss Universe and as well the first edition held back-to-back titles by black women. 84 contestants competed in this year.

The Señorita Panamá is a national beauty pageant in Panama. As of the 2024 edition, Señorita Panamá winners represent Panamá in Miss Universe and Miss International. The Miss Panama brand started in 1952, when the Panamanian Institute of Tourism received an invitation from Miss Universe to send a representative. In 1975, the Señorita Panamá name was used for the first time, reverting to Miss Panama in 1976. In 1982, Señorita Panamá was created by RPC Channel 4 as an alternative to send its winners to the Miss World contest in London. These pageants, along with smaller pageants such as Miss International Panamá and Miss World Panamá celebrated to select delegates for international representations.

Nuestra Belleza Mundo El Salvador was a national Beauty pageant in El Salvador. The winner represented El Salvador at Miss World. Between 2006 - 2015, the winner was given the title of Nuestra Belleza Universo and competed at Miss Universe.

The Miss Haiti or Miss Haiti Univers is a national Beauty pageant in Haiti. The pageant was founded in 1920, where the winners were sent to Miss Universe.

Reinas de Costa Rica is a national beauty pageant in Costa Rica that selects representatives to the Miss World and Miss International pageant. After the Miss Costa Rica pageant stopped sending contestants to the Miss World and Miss International pageants in 2006, the franchise was acquired by the Reinas de Costa Rica organization presided by Alan Aleman. However, after two years of absence in the Miss World pageant in 2017-2018, the organization eventually lost the franchise to the newly established contest, Concurso Nacional de Belleza de Costa Rica in 2019. The organization also lost the Miss Earth franchise to Jose Vásconez in 2016.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss World 2015</span> International beauty pageant

Miss World 2015, the 65th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 19 December 2015 at the outdoor arena of the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China. 114 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown. Rolene Strauss of South Africa crowned her successor Mireia Lalaguna of Spain at the end of the event. It was the first time in the history of Miss World that Spain won the pageant.

Miss Earth India or Miss India Earth is a title given to the Indian woman who represents India at Miss Earth, an annual, international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. The current national pageant which chooses the Indian representative for Miss Earth is Miss Divine Beauty of India.

Magyarország Szépe is a national Beauty pageant for Miss World pageant. The pageant under the management of The Magyarország Szépe Kft. This pageant is not related to Miss Universe Hungary or Miss International Hungary contests.

The Miss Universe Puerto Rico is a national beauty pageant in Puerto Rico, held annually since 1952. Currently, the pageant is responsible for selecting the country’s delegates to Miss Universe. Since 2018, the organization is owned by Hemisphere Media Group, and the annual competition is broadcast on WAPA TV and WAPA América. After Hemisphere Media Group acquired the rights of the franchise, Denise Quiñones, was appointed as the director of the organization.
