Miss Universe Latvia (Miss Universe Latvija) is a national Beauty pageant that selects the Latvian representative to the Miss Universe pageant. The contestants represent the 7 cities and 26 districts. There they would select the top 15, then the top 10 and the final 5. So far the pageant was held only thrice: 2005, 2006, and in 2022.

History

In 2005, Bravo Productions was awarded the rights to send Latvian representative to Miss Universe 2005 pageant to be held in Bangkok, Thailand. Ieva Kokoreviča became the first ever Miss Universe Latvia in an event held at the SAS Radisson in Riga on April 7, 2005. [1] As well as having debuted, Latvia was also called out to the semi-finals (and finals) for the first time. The last Miss Universe Latvia is Sanita Kubliņa, who was crowned on April 5, 2006, in Riga. [2] She represented Latvia in the Miss Universe 2006 competition in Los Angeles, California, but did not place. From 2007 up to 2021, Miss Universe Latvia did not compete in the Miss Universe pageant. The organization lost the franchise 12 years after the pageant was postponed. Began 2022, Inga Raduga Model Management under Inga Raduga directorship took over the license of Miss Universe pageant.

From 1958 to 1999, Miss United Kingdom was a national beauty pageant held to choose a representative for the Miss World Pageant. In 1999, Scotland and Wales had their own contestants at Miss World, and in 2000, England and Northern Ireland sent their own representatives. The existing organization now runs the Miss England competition.

Miss World 2006, the 56th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 30 September 2006 at the Sala Kongresowa, the main 2,897-seat auditorium of the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, Poland. It was the first time ever that the pageant was held in the Continental Europe and a European city other than London, United Kingdom, having previously been held there in 2002 after the Nigeria Controversy. Miss Universe Australia is a national beauty pageant that selects Australia's representative to the Miss Universe.

Nuestra Belleza México 2005, the 12th Nuestra Belleza México pageant, was held at the Antiguo Taller de Locomotoras of Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico on September 2, 2005. Thirty-three contestants of the Mexican Republic competed for the national title, which was won by Priscila Perales from Nuevo León, who later competed in Miss Universe 2006 in United States where she was a semifinalist in the Top 10. Perales was crowned by the outgoing Nuestra Belleza México titleholder Laura Elizondo. She was the third Neoleonesa to win this title.

Nuestra Belleza México 2006, the 13th Nuestra Belleza México beauty pageant, was held at the Espacio Cultural Metropolitano of Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico on September 2, 2006. Thirty contestants of the Mexican Republic competed for the national title, which was won by Rosa Maria Ojeda from Sinaloa, who later competed in Miss Universe 2007 in Mexico where she was a Semifinalist in the Top 10. Ojeda was crowned by outgoing Nuestra Belleza México titleholder Priscila Perales. She was the second Sinaloan to win this title.

Miss Jamaica World is a national beauty pageant in Jamaica that selects a contestant to represent the country in the Miss World beauty pageant.

Ieva Kubliņa is a Latvian women's basketball player. She last played in Euroleague Women for Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahçe Istanbul. She competed with Latvia women's national basketball team at the 2008 Summer Olympics, where she scored 47 points in 5 games, including 18 in a loss to South Korea. She played college basketball at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, VA. Her accomplishments led to her enshrinement in the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame.

Inese Šlesere is a Latvian politician, former model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was the runner-up in the 1999 Mrs. World and a contestant in Miss World 1991. She was a member of the Latvian Parliament from 2002 to 2011. Since 2010, she is the main organizer of the annual Latvian Prayers breakfast. She is married to Ainārs Šlesers and has five children, including Ričards Šlesers.

Miss Chinese Taipei, formerly known as Miss China, is a national beauty pageant in Taiwan since 1960. The first and second place titleholders have the opportunity to represent Taiwan at the third largest international beauty pageant, Miss International. The current 2023 titleholder of Miss Chinese Taipei is Oceana Ling-Kurie.

Señorita Curaçao is a national beauty pageant in Curaçao. This pageant is unrelated to the Miss Curaçao or Miss International Curaçao pageant.

Miss Grand Latvia is a national beauty pageant title awarded to Latvian representatives competing at the Miss Grand International pageant. The title was first awarded in 2013, when the director of Mis Latvija, Inta Fogele, assigned the winner of Miss Rezekne 2013, Kristīne Rancāne, to represent Latvia at the inaugural edition of the mentioned international contest in Thailand, where she won the Best in Swimsuit award and was placed among the top 10 finalists, which was considered the only and highest placement for Latvian representatives at Miss Grand International.
