The Miss Costa Rica is a national beauty pageant in Costa Rica. The winner of the pageant represents Costa Rica at Miss Universe pageant.
Costa Rica has participated in the Miss Universe pageant since 1954 and has sent 56 representatives in the pageant's 60-year history. The event used to be coproduced and broadcast by Teletica since 1960, but in 2024 the production changed to Ethe channel ¡OPA! [1] [2] [3] Women between the ages of 18 and 27, each representing a province, compete to represent Costa Rica for one year and participate in the annual Miss Universe international competition.

Miss Universe 2001 was the 50th anniversary of the Miss Universe pageant, held at the Coliseo Rubén Rodríguez in Bayamón, Puerto Rico on May 11, 2001. The contest was won by Denise Quiñones of Puerto Rico who was crowned by Lara Dutta of India. This was Puerto Rico's fourth win in the history of the pageant.

Reinas de Costa Rica is a national beauty pageant in Costa Rica that selects representatives to the Miss World and Miss International pageant. After the Miss Costa Rica pageant stopped sending contestants to the Miss World and Miss International pageants in 2006, the franchise was acquired by the Reinas de Costa Rica organization presided by Alan Aleman. However, after two years of absence in the Miss World pageant in 2017-2018, the organization eventually lost the franchise to the newly established contest, Concurso Nacional de Belleza de Costa Rica in 2019. The organization also lost the Miss Earth franchise to Jose Vásconez in 2016.

Miss Grand Costa Rica is a San José-based female national beauty pageant in Costa Rica, organized separately for in first time in 2022 by the Concurso Nacional de Belleza de Costa Rica, with Erick Solis as the president. The winner of the contest represents the country at its parent competition, the Miss Grand International pageant. Before 2022, the competition license belonged to different organizers, such as the Reinas de Costa Rica organization (2015 – 2017) and the Miss Costa Rica organization (2018 – 2021). Most of the country's representatives at the Miss Grand International pageant during such a period were appointed without organizing the respective pageant.
Miss Grand Costa Rica 2022 was the first edition of the Miss Grand Costa Rica beauty pageant, held at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre in San José on 7 July 2022. Reinas del Paraguay is a national beauty pageant in Paraguay. It was founded in 2022 to select the Paraguayan representatives in the Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International and Miss Earth pageants.
