Miss Earth Liberia is the official title given to Liberia's delegate to the Miss Earth pageant. The pageant focuses mainly on promoting environmental causes and winners are chosen equally on their physical attributes as well as their understanding and knowledge of the issues affecting the earth.

History

In 2005, the Miss Earth Liberia franchise was obtained by Beauties of Africa Inc., owned by Mr. Andy A. Abulime. However, the first year Liberia sent a representative to Miss Earth was in 2006 with Rachel Bidmia Njinimbam as the first Miss Earth Liberia titleholder and competed in Miss Earth 2006. [1]

In 2008, Liberia was represented at Miss Earth 2008 by Marit Woods. [2] [3]

In 2018, Wokie Dolo, former Miss World Liberia 2017 and owner of La Queen Entertainment serves as the national director. [4] [5] The pageant was formed in partnership with The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); winner automatically becomes the ambassador of the EPA. [6] [7]

The 2020 pageant that was due to be held in March 2020, was postponed to September due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [8] [9]

In September 2020, the President of Liberia, George Weah congratulated the winners of Miss Earth Liberia 2020 for promoting the country's tourism industry as part of the United Nations World Tourism Organization's World Tourism Day. [10] [11] The Liberian President also recorded a song, “Da who will win” dedicated to the contestants of Miss Earth Liberia pageant. [12] [13]

Miss Earth Jamaica is an annual national beauty pageant to select a delegate to represent Jamaica at the international Miss Earth pageant. The current Miss Earth Jamaica is Catherine Harris who was crowned on September 23, 2020.

The Miss Guatemala of Miss Guatemala Universo is a national Beauty pageant in Guatemala. The pageant was founded in 1955, where the winners were sent to Miss Universe.

The Miss Honduras or Miss Honduras Universe is a national beauty pageant in Honduras. The pageant was founded in 1930, where the winners were sent to Miss Universe.

Reinas de Costa Rica is a national beauty pageant in Costa Rica that selects representatives to the Miss World and Miss International pageant. After the Miss Costa Rica pageant stopped sending contestants to the Miss World and Miss International pageants in 2006, the franchise was acquired by the Reinas de Costa Rica organization presided by Alan Aleman. However, after two years of absence in the Miss World pageant in 2017-2018, the organization eventually lost the franchise to the newly established contest, Concurso Nacional de Belleza de Costa Rica, in 2019. Miss Earth 2020, the 20th anniversary of the Miss Earth pageant, the first virtual coronation of any major pageant in the world. The pageant was held on 29 November 2020 where Nellys Pimentel of Puerto Rico was succeeded by Lindsey Coffey of the United States at the end of the event. This marked the first time a delegate representing the United States won Miss Earth, becoming the fourth country to win all of the Big Four international beauty pageants at least once.

Miss Europe 1970 was the 33rd edition of the Miss Europe pageant and the 22nd edition under the Mondial Events Organization. It was held at the Skylistion Theatre in Piraeus, Greece on 15 September 1970. Noelia Alfonso Cabrera of Spain, was crowned Miss Europe 1970 by outgoing titleholder Saša Zajc of Yugoslavia.

Miss Europe 1971 was the 34th edition of the Miss Europe pageant and the 23rd edition under the Mondial Events Organization. It was held at the Palais des sports d'El Menzah in Tunis, Tunisia on 19 September 1971. Filiz Vural of Turkey, was crowned Miss Europe 1971 by outgoing titleholder Noelia Alfonso Cabrera of Spain.
