The Miss Earth Zimbabwe is a beauty pageant promoting environmental protection and selects a national delegate for the international Miss Earth pageant, [1] one of the four largest and most famous female international beauty pageants referred as the Big Four international beauty pageants. [2]

History

The Miss Earth Zimbabwe pageant was established to empower young Zimbabwean women in promoting sustainable living, environmental protection, wildlife conservation, natural resource management, and to promote various tourist destinations in Zimbabwe. [3] [4]

The winners and candidates of Miss Earth Zimbabwe participate in environmental awareness program and education including visiting schools to encourage proper food management and educate children in finding solutions to food wastage. [5]

The Miss Earth Zimbabwe pageant was first represented in the international Miss Earth pageant in 2007 by Miss Earth Zimbabwe 2007, Myome Omar. [6]

In 2011, Thandi Muringa, Miss Earth Zimbabwe 2011 became the first representative from Zimbabwe to enter in the Top 8 finalists in the international Miss Earth 2011 competition, held at the University of the Philippines in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on December 4, 2011. [6]

Muringa became the national director of Miss Earth Zimbabwe's pageant in 2012. [3] She is also the chairperson of the Miss Earth Zimbabwe Foundation- the environmental-arm of the pageant that promotes the green schools project which benefited and served thousands of children from various schools in partnership with the Zimbabwe Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate's Environmental Management Agency (EMA), Tetrad Tree Foundation among others. In 2013, Miss Earth Zimbabwe, Samantha Dika won the national Women’s Philanthropic Award for her outstanding achievements in Green Awareness activities awarded by the Zimbabwe Philanthropy Institution. [8]

April Ross Lim Perez is a Filipina fashion model and beauty pageant titleholder. She competed in the second edition of the national Miss Philippines beauty pageant and was crowned Miss Philippines 2002.

Miss Global Zimbabwe is a National Beauty Pageant in Zimbabwe that was founded in 2012 by Tare Munzara and Ronald Tisauke, that promotes beauty, charity and tourism. The Pageant sends its winner to Miss Globe International and Miss Global International. Its 1st runner up goes to Miss International Pageant.

Miss Earth South Africa is a beauty pageant in South Africa that began in 2001. The winner of the pageant represents her country at Miss Earth pageant.

Miss Earth Austria is a national Beauty pageant in Austria which was founded in 2011. It is responsible for selecting the country's representative to Miss Earth, which is an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. Miss Earth Austria also tackles environmental and humanitarian issues and serves to promote environmental awareness and social thinking.

Miss Earth Spain is a national beauty pageant in Spain and has been held since 2019. It is responsible for selecting the country's representatives to the Miss Earth international pageant. The main winner is being sent to Miss Earth which is an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness.

Miss Earth Belgium is a title given to a woman who is selected to represent Belgium at Miss Earth, an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. The national pageant of Miss Earth for Belgium is conducted by Miss Exclusive to which Carousel Productions, the owner of Miss Earth, awarded the franchise in 2014. The winner of Miss Exclusive gets the title of Miss Earth Belgium.

The Miss Earth Rwanda is an annual beauty pageant in Rwanda and has been held since 2015. It is responsible for sending Rwanda's representative to the Miss Earth pageant which is an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness.

Miss Earth India or Miss India Earth is a title given to the Indian woman who represents India at Miss Earth, an annual, international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. The current national pageant which chooses the Indian representative for Miss Earth is Miss Divine Beauty of India.

Miss Earth 2019, the 19th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on October 26, 2019, at Okada Manila in Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines where Nguyễn Phương Khánh of Vietnam was succeeded by Nellys Pimentel of Puerto Rico at the end of the event. This marks the first time Puerto Rico has won Miss Earth, becoming the first territory to win at least once in all of the Big Four international beauty pageants.
