Modern pentathlon at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 12 to 16 October. The events took place at the Parque Polideportivo Roca and Tecnópolis in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) can enter a maximum of 2 competitors, 1 per each gender. As hosts, Argentina was given the maximum quota and a further 4, 2 in each gender was initially given to the Tripartite Commission. The remaining 42 places shall be decided in three stages; firstly four continental qualification tournaments held in 2017, second the 2018 World Youth A Championships and finally the Olympic Youth Pentathlon World Rankings. Should a nation qualify more than 1 athlete per gender the nation will be allowed to choose which athlete will compete. [1]
Each athlete will compete in both the individual and mixed events. To be eligible to participate at the Youth Olympics athletes must have been born between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2003. [1]

Modern pentathlon at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 22 to 26 August at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre in Nanjing, China.
This article details the qualifying phase for modern pentathlon at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Thirty-six athletes per gender must qualify for the Games, with only a maximum of two each per NOC. Qualification methods are similarly applied to both men's and women's events.
The futsal competition at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 7 to 18 October. At Tecnópolis and the CeNARD, the first one located in Villa Martelli, and the second one in Buenos Aires. There are two tournaments, one for boys and one for girls.
The rugby sevens tournament at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 13 to 15 October in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Archery at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held 12–17 October 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Rowing at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 7 to 10 October. The events took place at the Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires, Argentina, being raced unusual to rowing events in a short sprint over a 500 metre 4 lane course, under the Puente de la Mujer. Racing started with a time trial of 900m + turn to allocate crews to heats. There were two rounds of heats with crews being awarded points based on their ranking in each heat and the accumulated points from the two heats determining progression to the quarter-finals of the singles and semi-finals of the pairs.
