Faithless is a British electronic band formed in London, England in 1994 by Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss and Rollo. The current, official lineup of the band consists of Bliss and Rollo. The group is best known for the songs "Salva Mea", "Insomnia", "God Is a DJ" and "We Come 1". Faithless has released seven studio albums, with total sales of the first six exceeding 15 million records worldwide. The band announced they would separate after their Passing the Baton dates at Brixton Academy on 7 and 8 April 2011. However, in February 2015, Jazz, Bliss and Rollo reunited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band, but Jazz left to form Maxi Jazz & The E-Type Boys later that year.
Rowland Constantine O'Malley Armstrong is an English music producer and multi-instrumentalist. He is one half of the remix/production duo Rollo & Sister Bliss and is a founding member of the electronic music group Faithless. He has remixed tracks for Pet Shop Boys, Simply Red, R. Kelly, U2, Moby, Grace, Tricky and Suede.
Outrospective is the third album by Faithless, released on 18 June 2001. It is the follow-up to Sunday 8PM and the predecessor to No Roots. The single "We Come 1" had the most success, charting at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart, while "One Step Too Far" with vocals from Dido charted at number 6, and both "Muhammad Ali" and "Tarantula" charted at number 29. The album itself reached number 6 on the UK Albums Chart. The cover photograph was taken during the May 1968 students uprisings in Paris, France. In the cover booklet of Forever Faithless – The Greatest Hits, Rollo Armstrong has stated that despite Outrospective being their biggest selling album in the UK, it is, however, his least favourite.
Ayalah Deborah Bentovim, better known by her stage name Sister Bliss, is a British keyboardist, record producer, DJ and songwriter. In the studio, she is best known for her work with Rollo Armstrong as one half of the production duo Rollo & Sister Bliss, and particularly as part of Faithless.
Forever Faithless – The Greatest Hits is a greatest hits compilation album from the dance music group Faithless. It features all their released singles, plus three additional new tracks ("Fatty Boo", "Reasons ", and "Why Go?".
"I Feel Love" is a song by Donna Summer. Produced and co-written by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, it was recorded for Summer's fifth studio album, I Remember Yesterday (1977). The album concept was to have each track evoke a different musical decade; for "I Feel Love", the team aimed to create a futuristic mood, employing a Moog synthesizer.
"Tarantula" is a song by British group Faithless. It was released in December 2001 as the third single from their third studio album Outrospective. The song reached number 29 in UK Singles Chart.
"One Step Too Far" is a song by British electronic group Faithless. It was released on 8 April 2002 as the fourth and final single from their third studio album Outrospective. This song peaked at number six on the UK Singles Chart, number four on the US Dance Club Play chart, and number 21 on the Australian Singles Chart. The song features Rollo Armstrong's sister Dido on vocals and was remixed for single release.
Renaissance 3D by Faithless is a 3-compact disc box set, of which each CD has a different theme. The first CD, Studio, includes remixes of both songs by Faithless and others. The second CD, a mix CD called Club, mainly contains uptempo dance songs. Both the first and second CDs are compiled by Faithless member Sister Bliss. The third CD, Home, is compiled by Maxi Jazz and contains less uplifting songs, from genres such as reggae and trip hop.
To All New Arrivals is the 5th studio album by dance music act Faithless. The album was created after the positive response to the Faithless Greatest Hits tour, originally described as their "final tour". The album was released on 27 November 2006, a week after the single "Bombs". The title for the album was inspired by the recent birth of two babies to band members Rollo and Sister Bliss. The album cover features the 1880 oil painting, Nightfall on the Thames, by John Atkinson Grimshaw.
"Insomnia" is a song recorded by British musical group Faithless. Released as the band's second single, it became one of their most successful. It was originally released in 1995 and reached number 27 on the UK Singles Chart, topping the UK Dance Chart in the process. When re-released in October 1996, the song achieved a new peak of number three in the United Kingdom and topped the charts of Finland, Norway, and Switzerland, as well as the American and Canadian dance charts. It also featured on Faithless's 1996 debut album, Reverence.
"Bombs" is a song recorded by Faithless, released as the first single from their fifth studio album To All New Arrivals. It features Harry Collier from Kubb. The single was released as a download on 23 October 2006 and was later released on CD and 12" on 20 November 2006, one week before the release of the album.
"Salva Mea" is a song by British electronic band Faithless, released in 1995 as the group's first single and became a hit on the Dance Charts, and then, following its re-release in 1996, #9 in the UK. The album version is more than ten minutes long and contains Maxi Jazz's distinctive rapping. The female vocals on all versions are by Dido. There is also a Way Out West remix which can be found on Reverence / Irreverence set and in 2015 to mark 20 Years of Faithless. British based DJ and production trio Above and Beyond left their mark on this track and gave it a massive boost for the clubs.
"I Want More" is a song recorded by UK dance group Faithless, released as a single on 23 August 2004. It features a vocal sample from the singer and pianist Nina Simone. Also sampled in the intro and outro is an excerpt from Pink Floyd’s "On the Run", from the 1970s album The Dark Side of the Moon.
"We Come 1" is a song by British electronic band Faithless from their third studio album, Outrospective (2001). The song was issued as the album's lead single on 4 June 2001, two weeks before Outrospective was released. The remixes by Wookie and Dave Clarke are included on the bonus disc of the album Reperspective: The Remixes.
Mass Destruction is the first single from the fourth album by British electronic music band Faithless, No Roots (2004). It was released on 31 May 2004 and reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart. In Australia, the song was ranked number 41 on Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2004.
"Honey" is a song by American electronic musician Moby. It was released as the lead single from his fifth studio album Play on August 24, 1998. The song samples the 1960 recording "Sometimes" by American blues singer Bessie Jones. Moby first heard "Sometimes" on a box set collection of folk music compiled by Alan Lomax, and subsequently composed "Honey" around vocal samples from the Jones song.
"That's When I Reach for My Revolver" is a song by Mission of Burma that was written and sung by band member Clint Conley. It appears on their 1981 EP Signals, Calls and Marches. Moby covered the song in 1996 and released it as a single, reaching number fifty on the UK Singles Chart. Prior to this, Catherine Wheel also covered the song as a b-side to their single 30 Century Man in 1992.
"Love Comes Again" is a song by Dutch DJ Tiësto featuring vocals by BT. It was released on 8 April 2004 as the second single from Tiësto's second studio album Just Be. It was written by Brian Transeau and Tiësto. In exchange to the collaboration of BT in his album, Tiësto remixed that same year one of BT's songs, "Force of Gravity" and was released on The Technology EP. Australian releases of "Love Comes Again" under Bang On! Recordings contain a B-side which was previously released as a single, known as "Traffic".
All Blessed is the seventh studio album by dance music act Faithless. It was released on 23 October 2020. It is their first studio album in 10 years, succeeding 2010's The Dance. It is also their first album which doesn't feature lead vocalist Maxi Jazz.
