Muhammad Jailani bin Khamis (born 26 May 1972) is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Rembia since May 2018. He served as Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under former Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali from November 2021 to March 2023 for the third term,from March 2020 to November 2021 for the second term and under former Chief Minister Adly Zahari from May 2018 to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration in March 2020 for the first term. He is a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. He was a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition before leaving UMNO for PAS [1] and of the People's Justice Party (PKR),a component party of the PH coalition before leaving PKR and becoming an independent and supporting the BN coalition for nine months and later joining UMNO. He is also one of the only three Melaka Opposition and PN MLAs alongside State Leader of the Opposition and Bemban MLA Mohd Yadzil Yaakub and Sungai Udang MLA Mohd Aleef Yusof. In November 2019,Muhammad Jailani and Machap Jaya MLA Ginie Lim Siew Lin were absent in the state legislative assembly meeting. Their absence resulted in the defeat of a motion from the then PH state government to nominate then-Melaka state PKR liaison chief,Halim Bachik as a Senator. [9] PKR President Anwar Ibrahim met them on the issue and described it as unacceptable. [10] During the 2020 Malaysian political crisis in March 2020,Jailani played an instrumental role in the collapse of the democratically elected PH state administration led by Chief Minister Adly as he was one of the MLAs who left PH. He left PH and resulted Adly in his loss of majority support in the assembly. Adly was then forced to resign as Chief Minister and the administration collapsed. He switched his allegiance to BN as an independent MLA. BN later returned to power together with Perikatan Nasional (PN) as a state coalition government. Sulaiman of BN was then appointed as new Chief Minister to replace Adly. He was later reappointed as an EXCO member for the same portfolios. In 2021,he rejoined BN and UMNO. [2] In the 2021 Melaka state election,he was nominated by BN as a candidate to defend the Rembia state seat and he was reelected as the Rembia MLA and reappointed again as an EXCO member for the same portfolios. [11] [12] On 29 March 2023,Sulaiman was confirmed to have resigned as Chief Minister. Muhammad Jailani labelled the incoming Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh as a 'backdoor' leader. The phrase was prominent during the political crisis and was often used to describe a government or politician who hold power or office without being democratically elected and given the electoral mandate by the people. Fellow EXCO member and Merlimau MLA Muhamad Akmal Saleh hit back at Muhammad Jailani and explained that no MLAs were involved in toppling Sulaiman and pressuring him to resign as well as reminding him of his pivotal role in the collapse of the PH state administration in March 2020. On 31 March 2023,Tanjung Bidara MLA Ab Rauf was appointed as the Chief Minister to replace Sulaiman. He alleged that Ab Rauf had pressured and toppled Sulaiman and declared that he was not supporting Ab Rauf and his government although he is a BN and government MLA. On 5 April 2023,Ab Rauf appointed his EXCO lineup and as widely expected,dropped Muhammad Jailani from the lineup.
During a press conference in Parliament attended by PN Members of Parliament (MPs) on 16 July 2024,Secretary-General of PAS Takiyuddin Hassan announced that Muhammad Jailani had left BN and UMNO for PN and PAS more than a year ago on 10 June 2023,a month before the state legislative assembly rectified the anti-party hopping law. [13] [14] Muhamad Akmal criticised Muhammad Jailani for doing so and reiterated that Muhammad Jailani was a 'political frog' and the infamous role the latter played in overthrowing the PH state administration. Muhamad Akmal also asked for a Rembia by-election to be called to elect the new Rembia MLA regardless of whether Muhammad Jailani had gone against the law or not. Muhamad Akmal challenged Muhammad Jailani to contest in the election for a new electoral mandate from the Rembia voters if he was a 'gentleman'. Chief Minister Ab Rauf added that all the BN candidates in the 2021 Melaka state election had signed a letter of undertaking,pledging not to party-hop and leave BN if elected as an MLA or face the costs incurred by BN. He also stressed that the departure of Muhammad Jailani from BN did nothing to affect his state government and extended his appreciation for the service of Muhammad Jailani in the state government as well leaving the fate of Muhammad Jailani to Speaker of the assembly Ibrahim Durum and the Supreme Council of UMNO. Member of the Supreme Council of UMNO Ahmad Maslan revealed that BN would ask for a cost of RM 100 million from Muhammad Jailani through legal means. Secretary-General of UMNO Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki presented the evidence and the letter Muhammad Jailani signed and asked for him to pay RM 100 million to UMNO or face legal action from UMNO. Muhammad Jailani fearlessly accepted the legal action from UMNO and promised to expose the 'dirty tactics' used by UMNO in the court.

Haji Adly bin Zahari is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Minister of Defence in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Minister Mohamad Hasan since December 2022,Member of Parliament (MP) for Alor Gajah since November 2022 and Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bukit Katil since May 2018. He served as the 11th Chief Minister of Malacca from May 2018 to March 2020 and State Leader of the Opposition of Malacca from April 2020 to December 2022. He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH),a component party of the PH coalition and was a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS),a component party of formerly the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition. In AMANAH,he has served as a Vice-President since September 2021 and State Chairman of Malacca since August 2017. He was also the Treasurer-General of AMANAH prior to his promotion to the party vice presidency. He is also the sole Malacca AMANAH MLA.

The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support,leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority,the collapse of two successive coalition governments,and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. The political crisis culminated in a 2022 snap general election and eventual formation of a coalition government. This crisis ended in 2022 and Malaysian political crisis continued in the State of Sabah known as 2023 Kinabalu Move.
Datuk Seri Utama Haji Sulaiman bin Md Ali is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Lendu since May 2013. He served as the 12th Chief Minister of Malacca from March 2020 to his resignation in March 2023,Deputy Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under former Chief Minister and former Member Idris Haron from May 2013 to the collapse of the BN state administration in May 2018. He is a member,State Secretary of Malacca and Division Deputy Chief of Masjid Tanah of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition.

Mohd Rafiq bin Naizamohideen is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) for the second term in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under former Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali from March 2020 to November 2021 and for the first term in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration under former Chief Minister Adly Zahari from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH state administration in March 2020 as well as Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Paya Rumput from May 2018 to November 2021. He is also a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition. He was a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition and previously PH coalition. He served as the Vice President of BERSATU from August 2020 to his resignation in October 2022,State Chairman of PN and BERSATU of Melaka from January 2021 to his resignations in November 2021.
Noor Effandi bin Ahmad is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Telok Mas from May 2018 to November 2021 and Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) from May 2018 to March 2020 for the first time and again from March 2020 to his resignation in October 2021.
Norhizam bin Hassan Baktee is a Malaysian politician and lorry driver who served as Member of the Melaka State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under former Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali from March 2020 to his resignation in October 2021 for the second term and in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration under former Chief Minister Adly Zahari from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH state administration in March 2020 for the first term. as well as a Member of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pengkalan Batu from May 2018 to November 2021. He is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition and was an independent and a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He is also informally known by his nicknames such as Hulk or Gangster,for his temperamental mood and fondness of wearing body-fit shirts.
Zaidi bin Attan is a Malaysian politician who has served as Deputy Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh and Member Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman since April 2023 for the second term and under former Chief Minister Idris Haron and former Members Abdul Ghafar Atan and Lim Ban Hong from May 2013 to the collapse of the BN administration in May 2018 for the first term. He also served as Member of the Malacca EXCO in the BN state administration under former Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali from November 2021 to March 2023. He has also served as Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Serkam since May 2013. He is also the Deputy Chairman of Syarikat Air Melaka Berhad (SAMB). He is a member and Vice Division Chief of Jasin of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition. His appointment as a Deputy EXCO Member in April 2023 is a demotion as he was previously appointed an EXCO Member in November 2021. This has rarely happened in the Malaysian politics.
Lim Ban Hong is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kelebang from May 2013 to May 2018 and again since November 2021. He served as the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and former Minister Azmin Ali from August 2021 to the collapse of the BN administration in November 2022 and the first term in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Minister Azmin from March 2020 to the collapse of the PN administration in August 2021,Senator from March 2020 to his resignation in November 2022 as well as Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in BN state administration under former Chief Minister Idris Haron from July 2014 to the collapse of the BN state administration in May 2018. He is a member and State Chairman of Malacca of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA),a component party of the BN coalition. He has also served as a Vice President of MCA since November 2018.
The 2021 Malacca state election,formally the 15th Malacca state election,took place on 20 November 2021. This election was to elect 28 members of the 15th Malacca State Legislative Assembly. The previous assembly was dissolved on 4 October 2021.
Ab Rauf bin Yusoh is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 13th chief minister of Malacca since March 2023 and Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tanjung Bidara since November 2021. He served as Senior Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under former Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali from November 2021 to his promotion to the chief ministership in March 2023 and Speaker of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly from May 2020 to October 2021. He is a Member of Supreme Council and Division Chief of Masjid Tanah of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition. He has also served as the State Chairman of BN and UMNO of Malacca since July 2018.
Kalsom binti Noordin is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh since April 2023 for the second term and under former Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali from November 2021 to March 2023,as well as the Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pengkalan Batu since November 2021. She is a member,State Women's Chief of Malacca and the Women's Division Chief of Hang Tuah Jaya of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition. She is also the sole female EXCO member.
Abdul Razak bin Abdul Rahman or more commonly known as "Tok Ajak" is a Malaysian politician who is a Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh since April 2023 for the second term and under former Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali from November 2021 to March 2023 for the first term as well as Member of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Telok Mas since November 2021. He is the Division Chief of Kota Melaka and a Member of the Supreme Council of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition.
Muhamad Akmal bin Saleh is a Malaysian politician and doctor who has served as Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh since April 2023 for the second term and under former Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali from November 2021 to March 2023 for the first term as well as a Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Merlimau since November 2021. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition. He has served as the 15th Youth Chief of UMNO and Division Chief of UMNO Jasin since March 2023.
Mohd Yadzil bin Yaakub is a Malaysian politician and medical doctor from the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (BN) coalition who has served as Leader of the Opposition of Melaka since December 2022 and Member of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bemban since November 2021. In BERSATU,he has served as State Chairman of Melaka since December 2021,Division Chairman of Jasin since 2020 and served as State Deputy Chairman of Melaka from 2021 to December 2021. In PN,he has also served as State Chairman of Melaka since January 2022 and served as State Deputy Chairman of Melaka from 2021 to January 2022 and Election Director of 2021 Melaka state election. He is also one of the only three Melaka Opposition and PN MLAs alongside Sungai Udang MLA Mohd Aleef Yusof and Rembia MLA Muhammad Jailani Khamis.
Leng Chau Yen is a Malaysian politician who has served as Deputy Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh and Member Kalsom Noordin since April 2023 as well as Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bandar Hilir since November 2021. She is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. She has served as State Vice Chairperson of the DAP of Malacca since January 2022 and Women Chief of DAP of Kota Melaka since 2020. She is presently one of the only two Melaka Deputy EXCO Members of PH and DAP along with Low Chee Leong and the sole female Malacca MLA of PH and DAP. Fairul Nizam bin Roslan,familiarly known as Along,is a Malaysian politician who has served as a Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh since April 2023 and Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Asahan since November 2021. He is a member and the Division Chief Alor Gajah of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition. He was also the State Youth Chief of UMNO of Malacca.
Hameed Mytheen bin Kunju Basheer is a Malaysian politician and teacher who has served as Member of the Malacca State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh since April 2023 and Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Ayer Limau since November 2021. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition. He is the Division Vice Chief and Youth Chief of UMNO of Masjid Tanah. He was a physical education teacher at the Alor Gajah Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM).
