Muhd Fadhil bin Nuruddin is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Perak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kamunting from May 2018 to November 2022. He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.
He had studied in SK Methodist,SMK King Edward VII and Technical Institution Penang. He is a Bachelor in Civil Engineering,Master in Science and PhD in Concrete Technology. [1]
He was a professor of Civil Engineering in UiTM and UTP and was the Dean of Engineering Faculty. He was also a site engineer working for Peremba-Shimidzu Sdn Bhd in 1984. [1]
He is currently a Member of the AMANAH Perak Political Bureau,Chairman of AMANAH Perak Culture and Arts Bureau and AJK Biro,Chief of AMANAH Bukit Jana branch and Deputy Chief of AMANAH Taiping Division. He was also the Chairman of AMANAH National Integrity Bureau. [1]

Mohammad Nizar bin Jamaluddin is a Malaysian politician and engineer who has served as Member of the Perak State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) state administrations under Menteris Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Saarani Mohamad from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH state administration in March 2020 and again since November 2022 as well as Member of the Perak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sungai Rapat since May 2018. The National Trust Party is a registered political party in Malaysia advocating a reformist strand of political Islam. The party was founded as the Malaysia Workers' Party before being handed over in August 2015 to Gerakan Harapan Baru,a group of progressive Islamist leaders of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party which lost in the June 2015 party election. This group of Islamists then redefined the Malaysia Workers' Party as an Islamic reformist party on 16 September 2015. The party currently has eight elected Members of Parliament. Tan Sri Dato' Mohamad Ariff bin Md Yusof is a Malaysian politician who served as the 9th Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat,the lower chamber of the Parliament of Malaysia from July 2018 to his removal from speakership in July 2020. He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) opposition coalition. He resigned from all AMANAH party positions but not membership to become more impartial after being appointed to the Dewan Rakyat speakership. Therefore,he remains an AMANAH ordinary member.

The seat fell vacant following the sudden death of the incumbent Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition,Mohd. Khusairi Abdul Talib,59,due to a heart attack on 15 July 2020. He had held the seat for four terms since 2004.

The election was conducted by the Malaysian Election Commission. The state election was held concurrently with the 2013 Malaysian general election.
