Mukul Dev (born 17 September 1970 [1] ) is an Indian television and film actor. He is known for his work in Hindi films, Punjabi films, TV serials and music albums. He has also acted in few Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu films. [2] He received the 7th Amrish Puri Award, for excellence in acting for his role in Yamla Pagla Deewana . [3]

Career

Mukul Dev made his acting debut on TV through a serial Mumkin playing the role of Vijay Pandey in 1996. [5] He also acted in Doordarshan's Ek Se Badh Kar Ek , a comedy Bollywood countdown show.

He made his film debut in Dastak as ACP Rohit Malhotra in the same year which also introduced crowned Miss Universe Sushmita Sen. He appeared in several films such as Qila (1998), Wajood (1998), Kohram (1999) and Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachaao (2001). He acted in several television serials in the 2000s such as Kahin Diyaa Jale Kahin Jiyaa (2001), Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii (2003), Pyar Zindagi Hai (2003) and participated in a dance competition show Kabhi Kabhii Pyaar Kabhi Kabhii Yaar (2008). In recent years he has played supporting roles in films like Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), Son of Sardaar (2012), R... Rajkumar (2013) and Jai Ho (2014).

He was also the host of Fear Factor India Season 1. [6]

Yamla Pagla Deewana is a 2011 Indian Hindi-language action comedy film directed by Samir Karnik, featuring Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, and Bobby Deol in the lead roles. The film marks the second pair-up between the Deol family, after Apne (2007). The film's title is inspired by the song "Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana" from the 1975 film, Pratigya also starring Dharmendra. The theatrical trailer of the film was unveiled on 5 November 2010, while the film was released on 14 January 2011, and received a good response upon release. It turned out to be a box office hit. It is the first installment of the Yamla Pagla Deewana film series and the 11th highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2011.

Yamla Pagla Deewana also known as YPD is a series of Indian action comedy films, produced by Vijayta Films. The first part Yamla Pagla Deewana released in 2011 and the second part Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 released in 2013. And the third part named Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se was released on 31 August 2018.
