Nabire, also known as the District of Nabire, is a town in the Indonesian province of Central Papua, at the western end of New Guinea. The town is the administrative seat of the Nabire Regency. It is served by Douw Aturure Airport. [2]

Geography

The town lies on the northern coast of the island on Cenderawasih Bay.

This is a newly built airport to replace the old Nabire Airport located in Nabire District, which is located just a few hundred meters away from the city center. The airport is named after Nabire Regent, Isaias Douw, with Douw Aturure being a title given by coastal tribes in Nabire.

Anggrameos is an island in Nabire Regency, part of the Indonesian province of Central Papua. It lies in Cenderawasih Bay and has a maximum elevation of 139 metres above sea level. It is part of the Teluk Cenderawasih National Park protected area.

Yaur is one of the ethnic groups that live in the northern coastal area of Yaur District, Nabire Regency. The area inhabited by the Yaur tribe falls within the Saireri customary territory, which includes the northern coast of Nabire, Biak, and Yapen.
