Najaf (Persian : نجف‎; also known as Najaf-e Bālā, Najaf-e ‘Olyā, and Najaf ‘Olyā)^[1] is a village in Howmeh Rural District, in the Central District of Maneh and Samalqan County, North Khorasan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 1,238, in 300 families.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is a pluricentric language primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Howmeh Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Maneh and Samalqan County, North Khorasan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 15,676, in 3,898 families. The rural district has 22 villages.
