Saaremaa is the largest and most populous island in Estonia. Measuring 2,673 km2 (1,032 sq mi), its population is 31,435. The main island of the West Estonian archipelago, it is located in the Baltic Sea, south of Hiiumaa island and northwest of the Gulf of Riga. The administrative centre of the island, and of the Saare maakond (county), is the town of Kuressaare.
Kaarma Parish was a municipality of Saare County, Estonia next to Kuressaare. In 2014, it was merged with the municipalities of Kärla and Lümanda to become the Lääne-Saare municipality.
The Nasva is river in Estonia in Saare County. The river is 3 kilometres long. It runs from Mullutu-Suurlaht into Suur Katel in the Baltic Sea. The river is unique because its water flows in two directions. During the floods in spring, the water flows from the sea into the bay, the opposite of the usual direction of flow.

Lääne-Saare Parish was a rural municipality of Estonia, in Saare County. It was located on the western part of Saaremaa island. The municipality has a population of ca 7,200 and an area of 807 km2.
Hiiumaa Parish is a rural municipality of Estonia on the island of Hiiumaa. Hiiumaa Parish was established by merging Emmaste Parish, Hiiu Parish, Käina Parish and Pühalepa Parish after the municipal elections held on 15 October 2017. Kärdla is the administrative center of the municipality. The current mayor (vallavanem) is Hergo Tasuja. The municipalities of Emmaste and Pühalepa contested their forced merger with Hiiu and Käina to form the new Hiiumaa municipality, which includes the whole island and what is Hiiu County.
