Nduga Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. Nduga Regency was created on 4 January 2008 by separation from Jayawijaya Regency in accordance with Law No. 6/2008. It covers an area of 12,941 km2, and had a population of 79,053 at the 2010 Census [2] and 106,533 at the 2020 Census; [3] the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 109,630 - comprising 59,587 males and 50,043 females. [1] The administrative centre is at the town of Kenyam.
It has the lowest HDI out of all regencies and cities of Indonesia. Its HDI score is 0.351, whereas the highest HDI score out of all regencies and cities of Indonesia is Yogyakarta, with a score of 0.887.

Since 2010, the number of districts has been raised to thirty-two by the splitting of existing districts. Bengkalis Regency is a regency of Indonesia in Riau Province. The regency was originally established in 1956 and then included most of the northern part of the province, but on 4 October 1999 it was divided up, with most of the territory being split off to form the new Rokan Hilir Regency, Siak Regency and the city of Dumai. On 19 December 2008 a further five districts were removed to create the new Meranti Islands Regency, leaving eight districts in the Bengkalis Regency. These eight districts has increased since 2010 to eleven by the splitting of existing districts on the Sumatran mainland.
Pidie Jaya Regency is a regency in the Aceh Special region of Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency was created out of the former northeast districts of Pidie Regency on 2 January 2007. The seat of the regency government is at the town of Meureudu. The regency covers an area of 952.11 square kilometres and had a population of 132,956 people at the 2010 Census and 158,397 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 164,361 - comprising 81,871 males and 82,490 females.
Dogiyai Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Central Papua. The Regency was created on 4 January 2008 from what had previously been the southern districts of Nabire Regency. It covers an area of 7,052.92 km2, and had a population of 84,230 at the 2010 Census and 116,206 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 122,993, comprising 63,955 males and 59,038 females. The regency seat is the town of Kigamani.
Intan Jaya Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Central Papua; it was formed in 2008 from part of Paniai Regency. It covers an area of 3,922 km2, and had a population of 40,490 at the 2010 Census, but this greatly increased to 135,043 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 139,236. The administrative centre is the town of Sugapa.
Jayapura Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in Papua Province of Indonesia. It is situated to the west of but does not include the city of Jayapura. Previously covering most of the north-east portion of Papua province, it was reduced substantially in extent from 12 November 2002, when the eastern districts were split off to form a new Keerom Regency and the western districts were split off to form a new Sarmi Regency. It now covers an area of 17,516.6 km2 (but see Note (h) under table below), and had a population of 111,943 at the 2010 Census and 166,171 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 171,670. The administrative centre is the town of Sentani, which had 24,482 inhabitants in mid 2022 in the 20.562 of its town (kelurahan) area.
Yalimo Regency is one of the regencies in the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. It covers an area of 4,320.29 km3, and had a population at the 2010 Census of 50,763 which doubled to reach 101,973 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 106,740. The administrative centre is at Elelim. The indigenous inhabitants of this well-forested mountainous area are the Yali people.
Puncak Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Central Papua; it is not to be confused with Puncak Jaya Regency, which is within the same province, and from whose western districts those districts now forming Puncak Papua Regency were separated in 2008. It covers an area of 7,396.47 km2, and had a population of 93,218 at the 2010 Census and 114,741 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2022 was 116,279. The administrative centre is at Ilaga. The name of the regency is currently being changed to Puncak Papua Regency.
Paniai Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in Central Papua Province of Indonesia. It is named after the Paniai Lakes. It covers an area of 6,525.25 km2, and had a population of 153,432 at the 2010 Census and 220,410 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2022 was 227,254 - comprising 124,260 males and 102,994 females. The administrative centre is the town of Enarotali, in East Paniai.
Nabire Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Central Papua. It covers an area of 12,075.00 km2, and had a population of 129,893 at the 2010 Census and 169,136 at the 2020 Census, comprising 87,688 males and 81,448 females. The official estimate as at mid 2023 was 174,427. The town of Nabire, which faces onto Cenderawasih Bay, is the regency seat.
Mappi Regency is a regency (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of South Papua. It was split off from Merauke Regency on 12 November 2002. It covers an area of 25,609.94 km2, and had a population of 81,658 at the 2010 Census and 108,295 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 110,291. The administrative centre is the town of Kepi.
Mamberamo Raya Regency or Greater Mamberamo Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in Papua Province, Indonesia. Tt was created on 15 March 2007 from parts of Sarmi Regency and Waropen Regency. The regency gets its name from the Mamberamo River. The largest regency by land in Papua province, It covers an area of 23,813.91 km2, but had a population of only 18,365 at the 2010 Census which had almost doubled to 36,483 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 38,636. The administrative centre is at the town of Burmeso in Mamberamo Tengah.
Central Mamberamo Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. It covers an area of 3,743.64 km2, and had a population of 39,537 at the 2010 Census and 50,685 at the 2020 Census. The official estimate as at mid 2023 was 51,430 - comprising 27,302 males and 24,128 females. The administrative centre is at Kobakma.
Jayawijaya Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. It occupies an area of 13,925.31 km2 in the Baliem Valley, situated in the central highlands of the province. It had a population of 196,085 at the 2010 Census, and 269,553 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 282,497. Its regency seat is the town of Wamena.
Keerom Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Papua Province of Indonesia. It was formed from the eastern districts then within Jayapura Regency with effect from 12 November 2002. It covers an area of 9,365 km2, and had a population of 48,536 at the 2010 Census and 61,623 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 63,499. The regency's administrative centre is at the town of Waris.
Lanny Jaya Regency is a regency (kabupaten) located in the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. It covers an area of 6,077.4 km2, and had a population of 148,522 at the 2010 Census and 196,399 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 201,461. The administrative centre is the town of Tiom.
Manggarai Regency is a regency in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia, situated on the island of Flores. Established in 1958 to encompass the 6,924.18 km2 area of the lands of the indigenous Manggarai people, the regency was reduced in area and in population by the separation of the more western districts to form West Manggarai Regency on 25 February 2003 and of the more eastern districts to form East Manggarai Regency on 17 July 2007.
Central Halmahera Regency is a regency of North Maluku Province, Indonesia. The regency was originally formed on 15 August 1990 from part of the former North Maluku Regency, but on 25 February 2003 parts of the new regency were split off to form a separate East Halmahera Regency and the city of Kota Tidore Kepulauan. It now comprises just the southern half of the southeastern peninsula of Halmahera Island, together with part of the southern peninsula of that island.
Sukamara Regency is one of the thirteen regencies which comprise the Central Kalimantan Province on the island of Kalimantan (Borneo), Indonesia. It was created on 10 April 2002 from the former southwest part of West Kotawaringin Regency. The town of Padang contains the administrative centre of Sukamara Regency, and had a population of 6,555 in mid 2023. The Regency covers an area of 3,827 km2, and had a population of 44,952 at the 2010 Census and 63,464 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 63,039.
South Manokwari Regency is a regency of West Papua Province of Indonesia. It was formed in 2013 from the southern districts of Manokwari Regency, and covers an area of 2,812.44 km2. The population of the area now comprised in the new regency was 18,564 at the 2010 Census, which rose to 35,949 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 38,055. The administrative centre is the town of Ransiki.
Arfak Mountains Regency is a regency of the West Papua Province of Indonesia. It was formed in 2013 from the western districts of Manokwari Regency. The areas now comprised in the new regency had a population of 23,877 at the 2010 Census, which rose to 38,941 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 40,685. The administrative centre is the town of Anggi.
