Dar es Salaam Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions and is located in the east coast of the country. The region covers an area of 1,393 km2 (538 sq mi). The region is comparable in size to the combined land and water areas of the nation state of Mauritius Dar es Salaam Region is bordered to the east by Indian Ocean and it is entirely surrounded by Pwani Region. The Pwani districts that border Dar es Salaam region are Bagamoyo District to the north, Kibaha Urban District to the west, Kisarawe District to the south west and Mkuranga District to the south of the region. The region's seat (capital) is located inside the ward of Ilala. The region is named after the city of Dar es Salaam itself. The region is home to Tanzania's major finance, administration and industries, thus the making it the country's richest region. According to the 2022 census, the region has a total population of 5,383,728 and national census of 2012 had 4,364,541. The region has the highest population in Tanzania followed by Mwanza Region.
Kinondoni District, officially the The Kinondoni Municipal Council is one of five districts of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. The district is bordered to the north by Bagamoyo District and Kibaha of Pwani Region, to the east by the Indian Ocean, the west by Ubungo District, and to the south by the Ilala District. The district covers an area of 321 km2 (124 sq mi). The district is comparable in size to the land area of Malta. The administrative seat is Ndugumbi. The district is home to one of the best preserved Medieval Swahili settlements, Kunduchi Ruins, headquarters for the National Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA) and Makumbusho Village Museum. Considered the cultural center of Dar es Salaam, Kinondoni District is also regarded the birthplace of the musical genre of Singeli. The 2012 National Tanzania Census states the population for Kinondoni as 1,775,049.
Ilala District, officially the Ilala Municipal Council is one of five districts of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. The district is bordered to the north by Kinondoni District, to the east by the Zanzibar Channel, the west by Pwani Region, and to the south by the Temeke District. It covers an area of 365 km2 (141 sq mi). The district is comparable in size to the land area of U.S Virgin Islands. The administrative seat is Mchafukoge. The 2012 National Tanzania Census states the population for Ilala as 1,220,611.
Kivukoni is an administrative ward located in Ilala District, Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. Kivikoni's name come from the Swahili word meaning "a crossing place". The ward is bordered by Upanga East ward to the west, Kisutu ward to the southwest, and Kigamboni ward across the Kivukoni channel. The ward covers an area of 2.387 km2 (0.922 sq mi). Kivukoni ward is one of the most important wards in the country, as it is home to the Ikulu, which is the home of the president of Tanzania. Kivukoni ward is also home to the National Museum of Tanzania. According to the 2012 census, the ward had a total population of 6,742.
Ubungo District, offcially the, Ubungo Municipal Council is one of five districts of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. The Kinondoni District and Kibaha of the Pwani Region border the district to the north; the Kisarawe District of Pwani Region borders it to the west; and the Ilala District borders the it to the south and east. The district covers an area of 260.4 km2 (100.5 sq mi). The district is comparable in size to the land area of St. Kitts and Nevis. The administrative seat is Kwembe. The district is home to the Univeristy of Dar es Salaam, The Magufuli Bus Terminal, the largest in the country, and Pande Game Reserve the largest protected land area in Dar es Salaam Region. In addition, the district is home to the largest natural gas powered power station, the Ubungo Thermal Power Station and the headquarters of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO). The 2012 National Tanzania Census states the population of the district as 845,368.
Bagamoyo is one of the six districts of the Pwani Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by the Tanga Region, to the west by the Morogoro Region, to the east by the Indian Ocean and to the south by the Kibaha District. The district capital is at Bagamoyo.

Usa River also known locally as Ussa is an administrative ward of the Meru District in the Arusha Region of Tanzania. It is the seat of Meru District. To the north and west, the ward is surrounded by the wards of Nkoaranga, Poli, and Seela Sing'isi. To the south and east, respectively, are the wards of Kikwe and Maroroni, and Maji ya Chai. As of 2012, Usa River ward had a population of 23,437.
Monduli Mjini is an administrative ward and district capital located in the Monduli District of the Arusha Region of Tanzania.The ward is totally surrounded by the Engototo ward. In 2016 the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics report there were 8,699 people in the ward, from 7,796 in 2012. The average elevation of Monduli Mjini is 1,553m.
Kinondoni is an administrative ward in the Kinondoni District of the Dar es Salaam Region in Tanzania. The ward is bordered to the east by Mikocheni and Mwananyamala wards, to the west by Hananasif ward, and to the north by Msasani ward. The ward is home to the headquarters for the National Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA) with its grand Mosque. The ward is also the heaquarters of Tanzania's second largest political party Chadema. According to the 2012 census, the ward has a total population of 21,239.
Makumbusho is an administrative ward in the Kinondoni district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. In 2016 the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics report there were 85,268 people in the ward, from 68,093 in 2012.
Mikocheni is an administrative ward in the Kinondoni district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. According to the 2016 census, the ward has a total population of 41,257. Its post code is 14112.
Mzimuni is an administrative ward in the Kinondoni District of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. In 2016 the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics report there were 26,905 people in the ward, from 21,486 in 2012.
Ilala or Ilala Ward is an administrative ward of the Ilala District of the Dar es Salaam Region in Tanzania.The Kigogo ward of the Kinondoni District borders the ward to the north, and the Mchikichini and Gerezani wards to the east. The Temeke District wards of Keko, Chang'ombe, and Temeke border the ward to the south. Buguruni encircles the ward to the west. In 2016 the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics report there were 38,923 people in the ward, from 31,083 in 2012.
Kipawa is an administrative ward in the Ilala District of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. The ward is home to Julius Nyerere International Airport. In 2016 the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics report there were 92,891 people in the ward, from 74,180 in 2012.
Miburani is an administrative ward in the Temeke district of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. It is the seat of Temeke District. Azimio and Temeke Wards are to the south and west of Miburani, and Chang'ombe, Keko, and Kurasini Wards are to the north and east. The ward is home to the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium and Uhuru Stadium the former being the largest stadium in the country and the latter being the most historic. Miburani also hosts Chang'ombe Cemetery and Chang'ombe Police Station as it was once part of Chang'ombe ward. According to the 2002 census, the ward has a total population of 41,176.
Somangila is an administrative ward and district capital of the Kigamboni District of the Dar es Salaam Region in Tanzania. The Indian Ocean borders the ward to the north, Kimbiji to the south and Kisarawe II on the southwest. According to the 2012 census, the ward has a total population of 19,283.
Kata ya Foresti is an administrative ward in the Mbeya Urban district of the Mbeya Region of Tanzania. In 2016 the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics report there were 7,328 people in the ward, from 6,649 in 2012.
