New Point is an unincorporated community in eastern Holt County, Missouri, United States. [1]
It was originally named Grant but the named switched to New Point in 1875. [2] The New Point post office shut down in 1980. [3] New Point's most famous citizen is football Hall of Famer Roger Wehrli, born in 1947.
New Point is located where Nichols Creek intersects Missouri Route B. It is just two miles west of the Nodaway River which is also the Andrew County border. It is located approximately five miles northeast of Oregon, six miles northwest of Fillmore, and about ten miles south of Maitland.
Clinton County is county located in the U.S. state of Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, the county had a population of 21,184. Its county seat is Plattsburg. The county was organized January 2, 1833, and named for Governor DeWitt Clinton of New York. The county seat of Plattsburg derives its name from a town of a similar name that is the county seat of Clinton County, New York, which was also named for the Governor.
