The New Zealand cricket team toured Pakistan in April and May 2023 to play five One Day International (ODI) matches and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. ^{[1] [2]} The tour was to make up for the series that was postponed in September 2021. ^[3] The ODI series was not part of the Super League. ^[4] However, it formed part of both teams' preparations for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. ^[5]

In April 2022, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the series would be taking place. ^{[6] [7]} In May 2022, New Zealand Cricket confirmed that they would compensate the PCB for the postponed series, ^[8] as well as playing extra matches on the tour. ^[9] In October 2022, the PCB announced the fixtures for the tour. ^[10] In April 2023, the PCB announced the revised fixtures for the tour. ^[11]

Prior to this tour, New Zealand toured Pakistan in December 2022 and January 2023 to play two Test matches and three ODIs. ^{[12] [13]}

Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 88 runs in the first T20I, ^[14] and went on to win the second T20I by 38 runs to lead the series 2–0. ^[15] New Zealand won the third T20I by a margin of 4 runs to keep themselves alive in the series. ^[16] The fourth T20I ended in a no result due to a hailstorm, with the series standing at 2–1. ^[17] New Zealand won the last T20I by 6 wickets to level the series 2–2. ^[18]

Pakistan won the first ODI by 5 wickets ^[19] and went on to win the second ODI by 7 wickets to lead the series 2–0. ^[20] Pakistan again won the third ODI by 26 runs to take the unassailable lead in the series, winning their first ODI series against New Zealand since 2011. ^[21] Pakistan won the fourth ODI by 102 runs and moved a step towards series white-wash. ^[22]

Pakistan named their full-strength squad for both the series, ^[27] after resting their several senior players during three-match T20I series against Afghanistan which concluded in March 2023. ^[28] Whereas, New Zealand were without their several first-choice players, ^{[29] [30]} due to either injury or playing in the 2023 Indian Premier League. ^[31]

On 24 April 2023, Mohammad Haris was added to Pakistan's ODI squad. ^[32] On 25 April 2023, Mark Chapman was added to New Zealand's ODI squad. ^[33] Haris Sohail injured his left shoulder just before the start of ODI series, ^[34] and was ruled out of Pakistan's ODI squad. ^[35] On 29 April 2023, Iftikhar Ahmed was named as his replacement. ^[36]
