The New Zealand cricket team toured Pakistan in April and May 2023 to play five One Day International (ODI) matches and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. [1] [2] The tour was to make up for the series that was postponed in September 2021. [3] The ODI series was not part of the Super League. [4] However, it formed part of both teams' preparations for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. [5]

In April 2022, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the series would be taking place. [6] [7] In May 2022, New Zealand Cricket confirmed that they would compensate the PCB for the postponed series, [8] as well as playing extra matches on the tour. [9] In October 2022, the PCB announced the fixtures for the tour. [10] In April 2023, the PCB announced the revised fixtures for the tour. [11]

Prior to this tour, New Zealand toured Pakistan in December 2022 and January 2023 to play two Test matches and three ODIs. [12] [13]

Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 88 runs in the first T20I, [14] and went on to win the second T20I by 38 runs to lead the series 2–0. [15] New Zealand won the third T20I by a margin of 4 runs to keep themselves alive in the series. [16] The fourth T20I ended in a no result due to a hailstorm, with the series standing at 2–1. [17] New Zealand won the last T20I by 6 wickets to level the series 2–2. [18]

Pakistan won the first ODI by 5 wickets [19] and went on to win the second ODI by 7 wickets to lead the series 2–0. [20] Pakistan again won the third ODI by 26 runs to take the unassailable lead in the series, winning their first ODI series against New Zealand since 2011. [21] Pakistan won the fourth ODI by 102 runs and moved a step towards series white-wash. [22]

Pakistan named their full-strength squad for both the series, [27] after resting their several senior players during three-match T20I series against Afghanistan which concluded in March 2023. [28] Whereas, New Zealand were without their several first-choice players, [29] [30] due to either injury or playing in the 2023 Indian Premier League. [31]

On 24 April 2023, Mohammad Haris was added to Pakistan's ODI squad. [32] On 25 April 2023, Mark Chapman was added to New Zealand's ODI squad. [33] Haris Sohail injured his left shoulder just before the start of ODI series, [34] and was ruled out of Pakistan's ODI squad. [35] On 29 April 2023, Iftikhar Ahmed was named as his replacement. Fakhar Zaman is a Pakistani international cricketer who plays for the Pakistan national cricket team. He also plays for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League. Zaman rose to fame after a success with his century in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, where in the final, he was the man of the match with his innings of 114 runs off 106 balls against India. On 20 July 2018, he became the first batsman for Pakistan to score a double century in a One Day International (ODI) match. After two days, he became the fastest batsman to score 1,000 runs in ODIs. In August 2018, he was one of thirty-three players to be awarded a central contract for the 2018–19 season by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The New Zealand cricket team toured the United Arab Emirates between October and December 2018 to play three Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20Is) matches against Pakistan. Originally, the tour was scheduled to have three Tests, five ODIs and one T20I match.

The Bangladesh cricket team toured Pakistan in January and February 2020 to play one Test match and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against the Pakistan cricket team. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship.

The Pakistan cricket team toured South Africa in April 2021 to play three One Day International (ODI) and four Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

The Zimbabwe cricket team toured Pakistan in October and November 2020 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. All of the matches were played behind closed doors at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. Pakistan's Babar Azam captained the team for the first time in ODI cricket.

The Pakistan cricket team toured New Zealand in December 2020 and January 2021 to play two Test and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. In August 2020, New Zealand Cricket confirmed that the tour was going ahead, and were working with their government to comply with biosecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. On 29 September 2020, New Zealand Cricket confirmed the full schedule of the tour.

The Pakistan cricket team toured Zimbabwe in April and May 2021 to play two Tests and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The tour of Zimbabwe followed on from Pakistan's tour of South Africa. On 28 March 2021, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the tour itinerary, with all the matches being played behind closed doors in Harare.

The Pakistan cricket team toured England in July 2021 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

The West Indies cricket team toured Pakistan in December 2021 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series would have formed part of the inaugural 2020–23 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The fixtures for the tour were confirmed in November 2021. Prior to the tour, the West Indies women's team also toured Pakistan to play three matches.

The New Zealand cricket team toured Pakistan in September and October 2021, and were scheduled to play three One Day International (ODI) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. It was New Zealand's first tour of Pakistan since 2003. However, on the morning of the first ODI match, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) raised a security alert with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Pakistan Government, which resulted in the entire tour being called off.

The Australian cricket team toured Pakistan in March and April 2022 to play three Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and one Twenty20 International (T20I) match. The Test series formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship, and the ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. It was Australia's first tour to Pakistan since 1998. The Test series was the first time that the teams played for the Benaud–Qadir Trophy, named after former international cricketers Richie Benaud and Abdul Qadir.

The RizBar is a duo of Pakistani professional cricketers consisting of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam. Azam serves as a top order batter of the Pakistan cricket team while Rizwan is a wicketkeeper-batter. Both the prolific batsmen, open for Pakistan in the T20Is and are referred to as the world's best opening pair.
