Next Episode (stylized in all caps) is the second extended play (EP) by South Korean brother-sister duo AKMU. It was released digitally on July 26,2021,and physically on July 27,through YG Entertainment. The EP marks the duo's first album release in nearly two years,since Sailing in September 2019. Described as a "collaboration album",it comprises seven songs,with each track featuring a different artist. "Nakka" serves as the lead single for the album.
South Korean brother-sister duo AKMU released the single "Happening" on November 16,2020. In a press release for the song member Lee Chan-hyuk hinted that it was a potential prelude to their next full-length album. [2] [3] On June 27,2021,South Korean news outlet Hankyung reported that the duo would be making a comeback in July,and had begun filming their new music video. [4] [3] On the same day,their agency YG Entertainment confirmed that they were in the middle of filming a music video for a new track. [5] [3] On July 12,the release of AKMU's new album titled Next Episode was announced for July 26. [3] [6]
On July 14,the EP's track listing was published,confirming a total of seven tracks with seven different featured artists. The track list highlighted "Nakka" (낙하) featuring IU as the title track;other featuring artists included Lee Sun-hee,Zion.T,Beenzino,Choi Jung-hoon,Crush,and Sam Kim. [7] Two days later,a video trailer for the EP was released,with YG Entertainment announcing that each track on the album would be accompanied by its own music video. [8]

Ruby C from the British magazine NME gave the EP a five-star rating out of five,and said,"Much like a mountainous expedition,there are always risks that come with collaborating with others,but those in 'Next Episode' work for the better:each track brings out the strengths of the collaborators,while still effective in showcasing Su-hyun's flawless,pristine vocals and Chan-hyuk's adept lyrical storytelling." [10] Tamar Herman,writing for South China Morning Post ,said that "[b]etween the captivating musicality and the lyrics' compelling themes",the album is "worth listening to again and again." [11]
EP's lead single "Nakka" debuted at number three on Gaon Digital Chart for the week ending July 31,2021. [12] The following week,"Nakka" rose to the number one spot,becoming the duo's seventh number one single on the chart. [13] It debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 's K-pop 100, [14] and peaked at number one for the chart issued on August 14; [15] and remained atop for four consecutive weeks. [16]

Dong Young-bae, better known by his stage name Taeyang or SOL, is a South Korean singer. He made his debut in 2006 as a member of the South Korean boy band BigBang. Following the release of several albums and extended plays with his group, Taeyang pursued a solo career in 2008, releasing his first extended play, Hot. The EP was acclaimed by critics and went to win the award for Best R&B & Soul Album at the 6th Korean Music Awards. Hot was followed by his first full-length studio album Solar (2010), which was released in July 2010 and peaked atop the Gaon Album Chart.
Lee Ji-eun, also known by her stage name IU (아이유), is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actress. She signed with LOEN Entertainment in 2007 as a trainee and debuted as a singer at the age of fifteen with Lost and Found (2008), her first EP. Although her follow-up albums in 2009, Growing Up and IU...IM, brought mainstream success, it was only after the release of "Good Day", the lead single from her 2010 album Real, that she achieved national stardom. "Good Day" went on to spend five consecutive weeks at the top of South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart, and in 2019, it was ranked number one on Billboard's "100 Greatest K-Pop Songs of the 2010s" list.
Lee Hyun is a South Korean singer. He debuted in 2007 as a member of the co-ed vocal group 8Eight, which disbanded in 2014. He was also a member of the disbanded vocal duo Homme from 2010 to 2018. Lee is currently signed to Big Hit Music as a solo artist. He introduced his alter ego Midnatt in March 2023, through the release of the single "Masquerade".
"Lonely" is a song by South Korean girl group 2NE1, serving as one of the lead singles from their 2011 self-titled second EP. The single was written and produced by Teddy Park and Kush, the song was released via digital download and streaming on May 12, 2011 by YG Entertainment. The song was a commercial success, peaking at number 1 on the Gaon Digital Chart in addition to topping all of the South Korean real-time digital charts following its release, achieving a perfect all-kill.

Sailing is the third studio album by South Korean brother-sister duo AKMU. It was released on September 25, 2019, through YG Entertainment. All the tracks' lyrics and music were written by member Lee Chan-hyuk. The album was supported by the single "How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You're the One I Love", which reached atop on the Gaon Digital Chart and Billboard's K-pop Hot 100. Sailing received generally positive reviews from music critics, many of whom complimented AKMU's stylistic shift from their previous releases to more musical maturity.
Treasure, is a South Korean boy band formed in 2019 by YG Entertainment, through YG Treasure Box (2018–2019); and consists of 10 members: Choi Hyun-suk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Yoon Jae-hyuk, Asahi, Doyoung, Haruto, Park Jeong-woo, and So Jung-hwan. Its former members, Mashiho and Bang Ye-dam, departed from the group in November 2022. "Wine" is a song by South Korean singer-songwriter Suran featuring rapper Changmo. Released as a digital single on April 27, 2017, by Million Market through Loen Entertainment, the song served as the first single from Suran's debut extended play (EP) Walkin', which was released in June. Produced by Suga of BTS, the song is a hip hop and R&B track with elements of electropop and future bass, and was written by Suran, Slow Rabbit, Changmo, and June. The song marked Suga's first independent production credit outside of personal projects and his work with BTS—additional production was provided by Slow Rabbit. Lyrically, the song is from the perspective of a person reminiscing about memories of a past relationship while drinking a glass of wine.
"Love Lee" is a song by South Korean duo AKMU from their third EP Love Episode. It was released as a single alongside its B-side "Fry's Dream" on August 21, 2023, by YG Entertainment. The song is the duo's first music in about two years since their extended play Next Episode (2021). "Love Lee" debuted at number one on the Circle Digital Chart, the group's eighth number-one single. It stayed atop the chart for six non consecutive weeks.
