Nondescripts Cricket Club (also known by its initials NCC) is a first-class cricket team based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The team plays at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground. [2]
The club was founded in 1888. The name "Nondescripts" is derived from the fact it was intended to be open to anyone, unlike other Colombo-based clubs at the time such as Sinhalese Sports Club, Moors Sports Club and Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club which were aligned with a particular ethnic group. [3]

The name 'Nondescripts Cricket Club' derives from a 19th-century London-based team. The Nondescripts were a 'wandering' cricket club with no fixed ground and a team composed of players of all standards. A New Zealand Nondescripts Club was established in 1962 to promote "the principles of the game of Cricket, especially sportsmanship and high standards in dress, attitude and application." It too is a 'wandering' club drawn mainly from Wellington and Lower Hutt players; eight NZ internationals have played for the club, including Ewen Chatfield, John Reid and Bob Blair. In the 1980s, a Nondescripts Cricket Club played in the Brunei cricket league. Consisting largely of Sri Lankan expatriates, both Sinhalese and Tamil, it later merged with another club and changed its name.

Dihan Avishka Gunawardene, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer, who played Tests and ODne Day Internationals. He served as the Sri Lanka A team coach for many years, and was later appointed batting coach of the national team in 2017. At present, he is the Head Coach of the Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team.
Mohamed Naveed Nawaz, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman and a leg-break bowler who played one Test and 3 One-Day Internationals for Sri Lanka. He is appointed as under-19 coach of Bangladesh. Under the coaching of Nawaz, in The 2020 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup Bangladesh beat India by three wickets to win the tournament.
Deshabandu Karuppiahyage Ravindra Pushpakumara, or Ravindra Pushpakumara, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer of Tamil - Sinhalese mixed ancestry. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He was a key member of Sri Lanka's 1996 Cricket World Cup winning team.
The Indian cricket team toured Sri Lanka in August 1997, participating in two Test matches and three One Day International (ODI) matches. During the first Test match, Sri Lanka scored 952 runs for 6 wickets, the highest team total in Test cricket. Several more records were established in this match, including the highest partnership for the second wicket by Sanath Jayasuriya and Roshan Mahanama. The Test series ended without a result, with both Test matches drawn.

The 1996 Singer Cup was a triangular cricket tournament held between 1 and 7 April 1996 in Singapore. The competition featured the national cricket teams of India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The tournament was won by Pakistan, which defeated Sri Lanka in the final on 7 April.
Deshabandu Pinnaduwage Aravinda de Silva is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and captain, who has also played in English county cricket. De Silva helped Sri Lanka to win the 1996 Cricket World Cup and brought Sri Lanka from underdog status to present-day form. He has held various posts in Sri Lankan Cricket after his retirement in 2003.
The 2002 ICC Champions Trophy was a cricket tournament that was held in Sri Lanka in 2002. It was the third edition of the ICC Champions Trophy – the first two having been known as the ICC Knock Out Tournaments. The tournament was due to be held in India, but was switched to Sri Lanka when an exemption from tax in India was not granted. Fifteen matches were to be played in the tournament including two semi-finals and a final match.[1] All the matches were played in Colombo at two grounds: R. Premadasa Stadium and Sinhalese Sports Club Ground. It was the first time that the teams of all International Cricket Council (ICC) member nations visited Sri Lanka to participate in a cricket tournament.[1]
The 2016–17 Premier League Tournament was the 29th season of first-class cricket in Sri Lanka's Premier Trophy. Fourteen teams competed, split into two groups of seven. Burgher Recreation Club replaced Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club, who were relegated from the previous years' tournament, after finishing bottom of the Plate League. Sinhalese Sports Club won the competition.
The 2015–16 Premier League Tournament was the 28th season of first-class cricket in Sri Lanka's Premier Trophy. It was held between 4 December 2015 and 6 March 2016, with fourteen teams competing. Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club won the competition, their first championship since the 1950–51 season.
The 2017–18 Premier League Tournament was the 30th season of first-class cricket in Sri Lanka's Premier Trophy, with the matches played across three days each in the group stage. Chilaw Marians Cricket Club won the tournament, after finishing unbeaten in the Super Eight section of the competition.

The tournament started on 9 March 2018 and finished on 25 March 2018. Rain affected the first few days of fixtures, with several games ending as a no result.

Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club finished in last place in the previous tournament, and were relegated to Tier B for this season. Negombo Cricket Club replaced them for this years' competition after they won the 2017–18 Premier League Tournament Tier B title. Chilaw Marians Cricket Club were the defending champions.
The 2004 SLC Twenty20 Tournament is the 1st season of the official Twenty20 domestic cricket competition in Sri Lanka. 15 teams in total, five representing four provinces of Sri Lanka and a Sri Lanka Schools XI team participating in the competition. The competition began on 17 August 2004, when Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club played the Police Sports Club at Colts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo.

It was the first edition of the Invitation Limited Over Tournament, replacing the Premier Limited Overs Tournament, after Sri Lanka Cricket failed to approve the latter due to delays in their domestic cricket structure. Sinhalese Sports Club won the last edition of the Premier Limited Overs Tournament.
