Kumar Chokshanada Sangakkara born 27 October 1977 is a Sri Lankan former professional cricketer who represented Sri Lanka in 134 Test matches from 2000 to 2015, including fifteen as captain. In first-class cricket, he played for Nondescripts Cricket Club from 1997–98 to 2013–14 and for Surrey County Cricket Club from 2015 to 2017. He also played for numerous franchise teams. He was born in Matale, Central Province.
The Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground is one of the most famous cricket grounds in Sri Lanka, and the headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket, the controlling body of cricket in Sri Lanka. Colombo Cricket Club Ground is a multi-purpose stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is currently used mostly for domestic first-class cricket matches and for hosting warm up matches for touring teams. The stadium can hold 6,000 people and hosted its first Test match in 1984. It is one of the smallest test grounds in the world. Three Test matches have been held at the Colombo Cricket Club Ground.

The Major League Tournament is the main domestic first-class cricket competition in Sri Lanka. It was established in 1938 and has existed under a number of different names. Matches before the 1988–89 season are not considered first-class. Relaunched as the Lakspray Trophy in 1988–89, it was renamed as the P. Saravanamuttu Trophy in 1990–91 and as the Premier Championship in 1998–99. There was a change of format in 2015–16 when it became the Premier League Tournament which was split into Tiers A and B the following year.

In addition, it competed in the Premier Limited Overs Tournament, Sri Lanka's main List A cricket competition, for five seasons.
Navy Ground is a cricket ground in Welisara, Sri Lanka. The first recorded match held on the ground came in 2002 when Galle Cricket Club Under-23s played Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club Under-23s.

The tournament was contested by nine teams, starting on 2 December 2016 and concluding on 29 January 2017. Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club joined the division after they were relegated from the 2015–16 Tier A tournament.
Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club is a multi-faceted Sri Lankan club founded in 1870. It is based in the Colombo suburb of Athurugiriya which is just to the north of Nugegoda. It is best known for its first-class cricket team which was formed before the 2013–14 season when it took part in the second-class Donovan Andree Tournament. Ahead of the 2019–20 season, Nugegoda were elevated to first-class, List A and Twenty20 status. They played in Tier B of the Premier League Tournament, the Invitation Limited Overs Tournament and the SLC T20 Tournament.
