O'Farrell is an unincorporated community in Cass County, Texas, United States. [1] According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 20 in 2000.

History

The area in what is known as O'Farrell today was first settled in the 1870s. A post office was established at O'Farrell in 1886 and remained in operation until 1905. The post office was run inside W.S. Thompson's store in 1890. A Baptist church and cemetery were located nearby. The community had two stores, the church, and a gin in 1896. Its population was 40 with two businesses in the 1940s. A church, cemetery, and town hall were in the community in 1983 and its population was listed as 20 through 2000. [2]

Geography

O'Farrell is located on Farm to Market Road 995, 9 mi (14 km) west of Atlanta in northern Cass County. [2]

Education

Today, the community is served by the Linden-Kildare Consolidated Independent School District.
