Ogan Ilir Regency (abbreviation OI) is a regency of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. It takes its name from the main river which stream that area, Ogan River. And the name Ilir means downstream. Indralaya is the regency seat. The regency borders Palembang City and Muara Enim Regency to the north, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency to the east, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, and East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency to the south, and Muara Enim Regency to the west. Ogan Ilir Regency covers an area of 2,666.07 km², and had a population of 380,904 at the 2010 Census [3] and 416,549 at the 2020 Census; [4] the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 431,558. [1]
Based on Presidential Decree No.37/2003, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency was divided on 18 December 2003 into two regencies, namely a reduced Ogan Komering Ilir Regency and a new Ogan Ilir Regency. Ogan Ilir Regency then included the six districts of Indralaya (as the capital), Tanjung Raja, Tanjung Batu, Muara Kuang, Pemulutan and Rantau Alai. This Regency is now administratively composed of sixteen districts (kecamatan), comprising 241 villages (14 urban kelurahan and 227 rural desa). These are listed below with their areas (in km2) and their populations at the 2010 Census [3] and the 2020 Census, [4] together with the official estimates as at mid 2022. Indragiri Hulu is a landlocked regency (kabupaten) of Riau, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The original regency was split in two on 4 October 1999, with the western half being created as a separate Kuantan Singingi Regency. The regency now has an area of 8,198.71 km2 and had a population of 363,442 at the 2010 census, 408,704 at the 2015 census and 444,548 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 464,076. The administrative seat of the regency is located at the town of Rengat.
Prabumulih is a city in South Sumatra, Indonesia. It was originally part of Muara Enim Regency, from which it was separated to become an independent city on 21 June 2001. It has an area of 477.10 km² and had a population of 161,814 at the 2010 Census and 193,196 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 199,047. Geographically, this city is located at 3°25′58″S 104°14′8″E in the heart of the province, and it is surrounded on all sides by Muara Enim Regency, apart from a short stretch bordering Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency.
Tapin Regency is one of regencies in the Indonesian province of South Kalimantan. The regency was created on 14 July 1965 by splitting off the districts which had until then comprised the southern part of South Hulu Sungai Regency. The regency's motto is "Ruhui Rahayu", and this is also shared by another Indonesian province. Labuhanbatu Regency, alternatively written in space as Labuhan Batu Regency, is a regency of North Sumatra Province in Indonesia. Its administrative seat is Rantau Prapat. An original regency of the province, it had an area of 9,703 km2 as at early 2008, prior to the separation out of its southern and its north-western districts respectively to create the new South Labuhanbatu and North Labuhanbatu Regencies on 21 July 2008.
South Labuhanbatu Regency is a regency of North Sumatra Province of Indonesia, created on 21 July 2008 by being carved out of the southern districts of the existing Labuhanbatu Regency. The new South Labuhanbatu Regency covers an area of 3,596 square kilometres and according to the 2010 census it had a population of 277,673, which rose to 314,094 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 330,797. Its administrative headquarters are at the town of Kotapinang.
East Tanjung Jabung Regency is a regency of Jambi Province, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency was created on 4 October 1999 by the division of the then Tanjung Jabung Regency into eastern and western halves. It now has an area of 5,085.71 km2 and had a population of 205,272 at the 2010 census and 229,813 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 234,164. The capital lies at Muara Sabak.
West Tanjung Jabung Regency is a regency of Jambi Province, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency was created on 4 October 1999 by the division of the then Tanjung Jabung Regency into eastern and western halves. It now has an area of 5,009.82 km2 and had a population of 278,741 as at the 2010 census and 317,498 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 326,530. The regency seat is Kuala Tungkal.
Banyuasin is a regency of South Sumatra Province in Indonesia. The Regency was formed on 10 April 2002 from the coastal and eastern areas formerly part of the Musi Banyuasin Regency. It takes its name from the main river which drains that area, the Banyuasin River. Pangkalan Balai is the regency seat. The regency borders Musi Banyuasin Regency, Jambi province and Bangka Strait to the north, Bangka Strait to the east, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, Muara Enim Regency, and the city of Palembang to the south, and Musi Banyuasin Regency to the west. It has an area of 12,551.15 km2 and had a population of 749,107 at the 2010 census and 836,914 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 850,022. Much of the regency is coastal lowland.
Muara Enim Regency is a regency of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The regency seat is the town of Muara Enim. The city of Prabumulih is an administrative body separating the main part of Muara Enim to the south of the city from a smaller part to its north. The regency until late 2012 covered an area of 8,587.94 km² and had a population of 717,717 at the 2010 Census; however, on 14 December 2012 five districts from the Muara Enim Regency were split off to form the new Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency.
Musi Rawas Regency is a regency of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. Prior to 2013, it covered an area of 12,134.57 km2 and had a population of 524,919 at the 2010 Census; however on 10 June 2013 the northern half of the regency was split off to form a separate North Musi Rawas Regency. Previous to 2001, the Regency had also included the city of Lubuklinggau, which was split off to form an independent city outside the regency.

Ogan Komering Ulu Regency is a regency of South Sumatra, Indonesia. It formerly covered an area of 10,408 km2 with a population of around 1,000,000 people; however on 18 December 2003 parts of this area were split off to form separate regencies of East Ogan Komering Ulu and South Ogan Komering Ulu; the residual regency area covers just 4,797.06 km2 and had a population of 324,045 at the 2010 Census and 367,603 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 383,608. The administrative centre is the town of Baturaja.

East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency is a regency of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. It was created on 18 December 2003 from what had formerly been the eastern districts of Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. It covers an area of 3,370 km2 and had a population of 609,982 at the 2010 Census and 649,853 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 673,966. The regency seat is the town of Martapura. It borders Ogan Ilir Regency to the north, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency to the west, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency in the east and Lampung Province and South Ogan Komering Ulu Regency in the south.
South Ogan Komering Ulu Regency is an inland regency in the far south of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. It was created on 18 December 2003 from what had previously been the southernmost districts of Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. It covers an area of 5,493.94 km2, and had a population of 318,428 at the 2010 Census and 408,981 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 426,687. The administrative centre is the town of Muaradua. It borders Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency and Muara Enim Regency to the north. It also borders Lampung Province to the south and east and Bengkulu Province to the west.
Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency is a regency of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. It takes its name from the three main rivers which flow through that area - the Penukal River, Abab River and Lematang River - while the name Ilir means "downstream". The town of Talang Ubi is the administrative centre of this regency. The regency borders Musi Banyuasin Regency to the north, Banyuasin Regency, and Muara Enim Regency to the east and the south, and by Musi Rawas Regency, and Muara Enim Regency to the west.
The Palembang metropolitan area, known locally as Patungraya Agung, is a metropolitan area in South Sumatra, Indonesia. It encompasses Palembang as the core city and parts of the three surrounding regencies: Banyuasin Regency, Ogan Ilir Regency, and Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. It is the second-largest metropolitan area in Sumatra with an estimated population of over 2.7 million.
Indralaya is the capital city of Ogan Ilir Regency which is also the administrative center of Ogan Ilir Regency. Indralaya is also a district located in Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia. This city is a satellite city of Palembang with a distance of 31 km. Indralaya is also part of the Palembang metropolitan area, which was designed by the central government to create the 10 New Jakarta areas. This is also in line with the construction of the inner city Palembang–Indralaya (Palindra) Toll Road, which shortens the distance between Palembang and Indralaya, especially for easy access for Sriwijaya University students.
