Opsarius nelsoni is a freshwater fish in the family Cyprinidae. It is endemic to India and inhabits clear, gravelly streams. It grows to 6.2 cm (2.4 in) TL. [1] It might be a junior synonym of Opsarius radiolatus . [2] It is named in honour of Joseph S. Nelson, American ichthyologist. [3]
Mackerel is a common name applied to a number of different species of pelagic fish, mostly from the family Scombridae. They are found in both temperate and tropical seas, mostly living along the coast or offshore in the oceanic environment.

Within the genus Oryzomys of the family Cricetidae, it may have been most closely related to the mainland species O. albiventer. Since its first description in 1898, most authors have regarded it as a distinct species, but it has also been classified as a mere subspecies of the marsh rice rat (O. palustris).
