Orthocindela is a genus of tiger beetles. There are at least two described species in Orthocindela. [1] [2] [3]
These two species belong to the genus Orthocindela:
Tiger beetles are a family of beetles, Cicindelidae, known for their aggressive predatory habits and running speed. The fastest known species of tiger beetle, Rivacindela hudsoni, can run at a speed of 9 km/h, or about 125 body lengths per second. As of 2005, about 2,600 species and subspecies were known, with the richest diversity in the Oriental (Indo-Malayan) region, followed by the Neotropics. While historically treated as a subfamily of ground beetles (Carabidae) under the name Cicindelinae, several studies since 2020 indicated that they should be treated as a family, the Cicindelidae, which are a sister group to Carabidae within the Adephaga.
Archidela is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are at least four described species in Archidela.
Brasiella is a genus of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae. There are more than 50 described species in Brasiella.
Distipsidera is a genus of tiger beetles. There are about 12 described species in Distipsidera, found in Oceania.
Enantiola is a genus of tiger beetles. There are four described species in Enantiola, found in Southeast Asia.
Eunota, also known as the saline tiger beetles, is a genus of beetles in the family Cicindelidae first described by Émile Rivalier in 1954. They are found in the United States and Mexico
Euzona is a genus of tiger beetles found in Australia. It was formed from the breakup of the Cicindela genus, and just like Cylindera, is in a state of dispute. Scientists do not agree whether the genus should be considered as a subgenus of Cicindela or kept in its current taxonomic rank. The genus contains the following species:
Guineica is a genus of tiger beetles. There are at least two described species in Guineica, found in Indonesia, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands.
Leptognatha is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 30 described species in Leptognatha.
Microthylax is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about five described species in Microthylax.
Neocicindela is a genus of tiger beetles endemic to New Zealand. Species include N. tuberculata, N. garnerae, N. dunedensis, and several others. Several former species of Neocicindela have been transferred to a new genus Zecicindela.
Notospira is a genus of tiger beetles. This genus has a single species, Notospira phalangioides. It is found in Myanmar.
Physodeutera is a genus of Tiger Beetles endemic to Madagascar. There are more than 60 described species in Physodeutera.
Polyrhanis is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 50 described species in Polyrhanis.
Prothyma is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 40 described species in Prothyma.
Prothymidia is a genus in the Tiger Beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about seven described species in Prothymidia, found in Africa.
Salpingophora is a genus of tiger beetles. There are about five described species in Salpingophora.
Stenocosmia is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. This genus has a single species, Stenocosmia tenuicollis. It is found in Madagascar.
Cicindela aurulenta, common name blue-spotted or golden-spotted tiger beetle, is a beetle of the family Cicindelidae.
Cicindelini is a tribe of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae, containing the overwhelming majority of genera and species in the family. There are more than 90 genera and 2,000 described species in Cicindelini.
