Rythm Syndicate is an R&B group from Connecticut, United States consisting of singer Evan Rogers, guitarist/keyboardist Carl Sturken, second guitarist Mike McDonald, bassist John Nevin, saxophonist Rob Mingrino, and drummer Kevin Cloud. Rogers and Sturken were already well-established producers and songwriters, having helmed many well-received albums during the mid to late-1980s, with Rogers having also released sporadic solo albums during the decade.
"If Wishes Came True" is a song by American musical trio Sweet Sensation from their second studio album, Love Child (1990). It was released as the album's second single in June 1990 by ATCO Records. It was written by Deena Charles, Robert Steele and Russ DeSalvo, and produced by Steve Peck. It is the biggest hit of the group's career, reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in September 1990. The song also peaked within the top 30 in Canada and New Zealand.
"One More Try" is a song by American musician Timmy T. The song was both written and produced by Torres, who was inspired to create the song after breaking up with a girlfriend. Released in October 1990, it topped the US Billboard Hot 100 on March 23, 1991, and entered the top 10 in Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden. It was the first single to top the Hot 100 on an independent record label since Lionel Richie's "Truly" in 1982.
"Weak" is a song by American R&B vocal trio SWV from their debut studio album, It's About Time (1992). It was written and produced by Brian Alexander Morgan, who composed the lyrics based on a young person falling in love for the first time. Inspired by his crush on singer Chanté Moore, Morgan originally wrote the song for Charlie Wilson, but he later decided to give the song to SWV. Morgan later revealed that lead singer of SWV, Coko, did not like the song and gave him attitude during the recording of the single. Coko, in turn, said that she did not like the song because she found it difficult to sing initially because the song forced her to do things she was not used to.
"Are You Ready" is a song by Australian rock band AC/DC. It is featured on the band's 1990 album The Razors Edge. A live version of the song recorded on the tour of the same name appeared on one of AC/DC's two live albums of 1992, Live: 2 CD Collector's Edition. The song peaked at number one in New Zealand, becoming the band's only number-one hit there, and has been certified gold for sales exceeding 5,000. The song also peaked at number 16 on the US Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart, number six in Ireland, number 14 in Finland, and number 18 in Australia. Music & Media magazine called the song "the best example of a rhetorical question". "Are You Ready" was used as the official theme for WWE SmackDown on Fox.

It was released in June 1991 by A&M Records as the third single from her ninth studio album, Heart in Motion (1991), though it was the second from the album to be released to mainstream pop radio. It reached No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and on the Adult Contemporary chart for one and six weeks, respectively. Charlie Peacock wrote the song's music and chorus lyrics, with Grant and Wayne Kirkpatrick composing the remaining lyrics.

It features British singer and songwriter Cathy Dennis, credited as "introducing" her. Rythm Syndicate is the full-length debut album released by the dance-rock band Rythm Syndicate, the group formed by songwriter-producers Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers. It was released in 1991 on Impact, a subsidiary of MCA, and produced by Sturken/Rogers. Three singles were released: "P.A.S.S.I.O.N." charted on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 2, while the opening track "Hey Donna" peaked just outside the top 10, reaching number 13. The last single "Blinded By Love" peaked at number 76. Of the three singles released, only "P.A.S.S.I.O.N." charted in the UK, where it peaked at number 58.
"You Take Me Up" is a song by British pop group Thompson Twins, released as the third single from their fourth studio album, Into the Gap (1984), on 19 March 1984. It was written by Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie and Joe Leeway and prominently features the harmonica and a melodica solo. "Hold You Tight" is a song performed by American contemporary R&B singer Tara Kemp, released in late 1990, issued as the lead single from her eponymous debut album. The song contains samples of "Think " by Lyn Collins and "Kissing My Love" by Bill Withers.
