The Pacha Group is a Spanish holding company specializing in the leisure, entertainment and hospitality businesses. It was founded in 1973 by Ricardo Urgell. [1]
The Pacha Group is a lifestyle brand involved in sectors including music, leisure, entertainment, hospitality, and fashion. The company operates the nightclub Pacha Ibiza, the hotels Destino Pacha Hotel and El Hotel Pacha, as well as the beach club Playa Pacha. It was founded in 1967 by Ricardo Urgell, and has been owned by FIVE Holdings since 2023.
In Ibiza, Pacha opened a club in 1973, and then expanded into the hotel business with El Hotel Pacha. By 1990, Pacha discotheques had opened in Madrid, Tarragona and Rio de Janeiro. The first franchisee of the Pacha brand was a nightclub in Fão, Portugal, in 1992. [2]
The first Pacha club in Argentina opened in 1993 in Buenos Aires.[ citation needed ]
The first Pacha club in Germany opened in Munich in the year 2000. [3] [4]
Pacha London opened in 2001 and closed in 2014.
Additionally, Pacha publishes annual music compilations with the Pacha branding on various Music Platforms (incl. Spotify, iTunes, Google Play Music, etc.), starting in 2008. [5] They also release tracks under their Record label 'Pacha Recordings', [6] and 'Pacha Multimedia S.L.'. [7]
Pacha's first logo was inspired by Carmen Sevilla's eye make-up. Later, in the seventies, various anagrams (of fruits) were created to distinguish various bureaucratic activities in the company internally. Finally, the image of the cherries was printed on a large number of posters to announce events and parties.
Ricardo Urgell, born in Barcelona in 1937, is the founder of Grupo Pacha. He is the grandson of Modesto Urgell. When Urgell was twenty years old, he started a water-ski school in Sitges. He then opened his first bar 'Tito's' in the same town. The name "Pachá" came from a remark made by Marisa Cobos, Urgell's first wife, who told him that with the money he was going to earn, he would be living like a Pachá (a Turkish/Ottoman Prince). The first Pacha club was Pacha Sitges, which Urgell founded together with his brother Piti Urgell.
In 2002, the Spanish Government decided to award the Gold Medal of Merit for Tourism to Ricardo Urgell.
Pacha Ibiza opened in 1973 and is the earliest superclub in Ibiza.[ citation needed ] Built in Ses Feixes and facing Ibiza Town, Pacha was designed to resemble a farmhouse. The club was featured in the 2004 film It's All Gone Pete Tong and has capacity of 3,000. [8] From 1998 to 2017, Pacha Ibiza was the venue for the DJ Awards. [9]

Ibiza or Iviza is a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea off the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula. It is 150 kilometres from the city of Valencia. It's All Gone Pete Tong is a 2004 British-Canadian mockumentary-drama film about a DJ who goes completely deaf. The title uses a rhyming slang phrase used in Britain from the 1980s, referring to the BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong who cameos in the film.

The term was first coined in Mixmag, the British electronic dance and clubbing magazine, in 1995, referring to the new wave of clubs such as Ministry of Sound and Cream, which were dominating the English club scene.

Steve Lawler is a British house music producer and DJ born in Birmingham, England. He is a five time DJ Awards winner and has held residences at many popular dance clubs such as Space, The End and Twilo. Because of his successful performances at Space in Ibiza, he was nicknamed "King of Space". Lawler has released several mix albums and is especially well known for his Lights Out series featured on Boxed. He currently runs the record label VIVa Music. Amnesia is a nightclub on the Spanish island of Ibiza. It opened in 1976 and won the title of Best Global Club in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 at the IDMA Awards in Miami. The club is located close to the village of San Rafael on the highway between Sant Antoni de Portmany and Ibiza Town.

He is best known for his song "Good World", which was a hit in Europe. The Annual is a series of compilation albums currently published annually by London-based electronic dance music brand Ministry of Sound. Described as Ministry of Sound's "flagship" series, the popular albums feature house, big beat and trance tracks popular in nightclubs, especially those in the United Kingdom.
