Kota Kinabalu, colloquially referred to as KK, is the state capital of Sabah, Malaysia. It is also the capital of the Kota Kinabalu District as well as the West Coast Division of Sabah. The city is located on the northwest coast of Borneo facing the South China Sea. The Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park lies to its west and Mount Kinabalu, which gave the city its name, is located to its east. Kota Kinabalu has a population of 452,058 according to the 2010 census; when the adjacent Penampang and Putatan districts are included, the metro area has a combined population of 628,725. The 2020 Census revealed an increase in the municipal population to 500,421, while the wider area including the Penampang and Putatan districts had a population of 731,406.

Grand Merdeka is a shoplots comprising shopping centre, offices and mixed multi-storey in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. It is modelled after the infrastructures in Mutiara Damansara, Selangor. Its shopping mall building was completed in early 2016. While the rest of the building was completed in 2017.
Plaza Shell is the office building for Shell Malaysia in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The building is an administration area for the management of supply and marketing of retail fuels, lubricants, commercial fuels, aviation and marine products for Sabah markets. The building also include a showroom for Mercedes-Benz, a shopping centre and medical clinics, pharmacy and physiotherapy clinics. The building opening was officiated in November 2015 by the Chief Minister of Sabah, Musa Aman.

It is part of waterfront revitalisation projects under the Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) to transform Kota Kinabalu into a metropolitan city. The building projects covering an area of 9.33-acre site will be developed by Mah Sing Group. Other part of the waterfront is the Jesselton Quay, Kota Kinabalu City Waterfront and One Jesselton Waterfront, which developed by different developers.
The Tanjung Aru Eco Development is a mixed development project at Tanjung Aru in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, with the addition of resort hotels, residential areas, marinas, entertainment venues, beach clubs and dining areas. The redevelopment areas cover some 340 hectares, which will double the Tanjung Aru park's size to about 30 hectares. Part of the area would be transformed into a rainforest, intended to rejuvenate the Prince Philip Park located nearby. The refurbishment of the park would include a promenade, walking and cycling tracks and an ecology centre, along with the construction of a 133 hectares Greg Norman-designed golf course, seven hotels with 1,800 rooms and 5,000 apartment and condominium units. The project however has been met with criticisms from local conservation groups.
Centre Point Sabah is a shopping centre located in the city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. It is one of the earliest shopping mall in the city, together with Karamunsing Complex and Wisma Merdeka.
