Aiken is the largest city in, and the county seat of, Aiken County, in western South Carolina. It is one of the two largest cities of the Central Savannah River Area. Founded in 1835, Aiken was named after William Aiken, the president of the South Carolina Railroad. It became part of Aiken County when the county was formed in 1871 from parts of Orangeburg, Lexington, Edgefield, and Barnwell counties.
Bluffton is a town in Beaufort County, South Carolina, United States. It is primarily located around U.S. Route 278, between Hilton Head Island and Interstate 95. The Lowcountry town's original one square mile area, now known as Old Town, is situated on a bluff along the May River. The population as of the 2020 census was 27,716, an increase of over 120% since 2010, making it one of the fastest growing municipalities in South Carolina with a population over 2,500. Bluffton is the fifth largest municipality in South Carolina by land area. The town is a primary city within the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton-Beaufort, SC Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Hampton is a town in Hampton County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 2,808 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hampton County. The town and the county are named after Wade Hampton III, a Confederate general in the Civil War.
The South Carolina State Museum has four floors of permanent and changing exhibits, a digital dome planetarium, 4D interactive theater and an observatory. The State Museum, is located along the banks of the Congaree River in downtown Columbia, South Carolina. It is the largest museum in the state, and is a Smithsonian Affiliate and part of the American Alliance of Museums. Positioned on an old shipping canal that dates back to pre-Civil War times, the museum is widely recognized as a resource for South Carolina history and lifestyle. The museum opened on October 29, 1988, and is housed in what it calls its largest artifact, the former Columbia Mills Building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. When the mill opened in 1894, manufacturing cotton duck cloth, it was the first totally electric textile mill in the world. It was also the first major industrial installation for the General Electric corporation. On certain levels of the museum, the original flooring has been kept intact, distinguishable by hundreds of textile brads and rings that became embedded in the floor while it was still being used as a mill. The South Carolina Confederate Relic Room & Military Museum is located within the Columbia Mills Building, and is the oldest museum exhibit in Columbia.
The Texas Theatre is a movie theater and Dallas landmark located in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. It gained historical significance on November 22, 1963, as the location of Lee Harvey Oswald's arrest over the suspicion he was the killer of Dallas Police Officer J. D. Tippit. Today, it hosts a mix of repertory cinema and special events.
The Newberry Opera House, located in Newberry, South Carolina, is a fully restored historic building that is a live-performance space for popular artists, touring theatre companies, and local organizations. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.
Pine Street Elementary School is a public elementary school located at 500 South Pine Street in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It serves children from kindergarten through fifth grade and is part of Spartanburg County School District No. 7. Its school building, constructed in 1928–29, is a prominent local example of Beaux Arts architecture, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016. It is the oldest continuously operating school in Spartanburg County.
Carver Theatre is a historic African American movie theater in Columbia, South Carolina. It was built in 1941, and is a two-story, rectangular, brick commercial building. It has a flat roof and a vertical marquee. It operated as a movie theater until 1971.

Situated on an isolated 20 acres in rural Union County SC, the 2650 square foot Means House has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1973. The listing, in 1973, included two contributing buildings on 20 acres (8.1 ha).
The American Telephone & Telegraph Company Building, located in Denmark, a city in Bamberg County, South Carolina was built in 1922.
Donk's Theatre was a historic movie theater located at Hudgins, Mathews County, Virginia. It was built in 1946–1947, and was a vernacular rectangular building constructed of rusticated cinder and concrete block, painted white and cream with Art Deco style details. The building measured 50 feet by 100 feet, and consisted of the central theatre entrance, storefronts, and a 504-seat auditorium. The theater operated as a segregated venue for motion pictures until passage of federal civil rights legislation in 1964. The movie business was declining due to TV, and the theater closed in 1970. It reopened in 1975, as a live country music concert hall. On January 22, 2016, the roof of Donk's collapsed due to heavy snowfall from a winter storm, as did several of the outside walls. Little survived, and what remained required demolition; the owners said that they would save the marquee.

Hampton County Courthouse is a historic courthouse building located at Hampton, Hampton County, South Carolina. It was built in 1878, and was originally a two-story structure constructed of brick laid in the common bond pattern in the Italianate style. In 1925, the courthouse was renovated and additional wings were added to the front and rear facades. Also located on the property are two small modern annexes situated directly to the rear of the courthouse, and a two-story brick annex.
Lawtonville Baptist Church is a historic Baptist church located at Estill, Hampton County, South Carolina. It was built in 1911, and is a brick building with a complex pavilion roof. It features projecting gables, stained glass windows, and a rear entrance that resembles a castle keep in the Late Gothic Revival style. In 1945, the congregation added a Sunday School building to the east of the original church building, and a music building was added in 1962. The church was renovated in 1973.
Hampton County Jail, also known as Old Hampton County Jail and Hampton County Museum, is a historic jail located at Hampton, Hampton County, South Carolina. It was built in 1879–1880, and is a two-story, three-bay-wide brick building, with a central, one-story entry portico on the front facade. The jailkeeper's living quarters occupied the first floor, while the second floor was dedicated to the cellblocks. The jail was dramatically altered about 1925, and a third time in the 1960s. The jail was the only holding facility for newly arrested persons in Hampton County until it closed in 1976.
Saluda Theatre is a historic movie theater located at Saluda, Saluda County, South Carolina. It was built in 1936, and is a two-story, stuccoed masonry building in the Art Deco style. The theater closed in 1981. It was restored after 1987, and is home to the Saluda Players.
Columbia Historic District I is a national historic district located in the Arsenal Hill neighborhood at Columbia, South Carolina. The district encompasses nine contributing buildings and includes a complex of fine mansions and attractive homes built before the American Civil War. The buildings are in the Greek Revival, Italianate, Classical Revival, and the “Columbia Cottage” styles. They include the Governor's Mansion, Caldwell-Hampton-Boylston House, Lace House, and Palmetto Iron Works and Armory.
Palmetto Theater was a historic movie theater located at Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It was built in 1940–1941, and was a one-story, rectangular plan brick building. It featured a large marquee and a separate shop storefront decorated in blue Carrera-glass panels. The interior featured double balconies, Terrazzo flooring, large Art Deco light fixtures, decorative wall painting, and a plaster Art Deco screen surround.
The Dr. Cyril O. Spann Medical Office, located in Columbia, South Carolina, served African-American patients during de jure and de facto racial segregation in the United States. Built in 1963, it was added to United States National Register of Historic Places on May 20, 2019.
