In some municipal elections and Provincial Council elections, the parties submit a joint list. Before the merger of the Reformed Political Alliance (GPV) and the Reformatory Political Federation (RPF) into Christian Union in 2000, these parties also participated in various combinations, including SGP/RPF/GPV. From 1984 to 2019, the parties participated jointly in the European Parliament elections.

The electoral colleges for the Senate are the electoral colleges of the Caribbean Netherlands and Dutch expatriates. Their members together with the members of the provincial councils in the European Netherlands choose the Senators of the Dutch Senate.

An election of the Members of the European Parliament from the Netherlands was held on 23 May 2019. It was the ninth time such an election had been held in the Netherlands. The number of Dutch seats had been set to increase from 26 to 29 following Brexit, but due to the extension of the Article 50 process in the United Kingdom, the number of seats to be elected remained at 26.

Electoral college elections were held in the Caribbean Netherlands on 20 March 2019 to elect the members of the electoral colleges for the Senate. The elections were held on the same day as the island council elections in the Caribbean Netherlands, and the provincial and water board elections in the European Netherlands. These elections indirectly determine the composition of the Senate, since the members of the electoral colleges, alongside the States-Provincial elected in the European Netherlands on the same day, will elect the Senate's 75 members in the Senate election on 27 May, two months after the electoral college elections.

Marieke Koekkoek is a Dutch lawyer and politician for the pro-European party Volt Netherlands. She was elected to the House of Representatives in the 2021 general election owing to the number of preference votes she received. Prior to being a member of parliament, she studied law and worked as a legal intern.
