Pasig City Science High School is a specialized public secondary school in Pasig. It is under the administration of the local government of Pasig and is recognized by the Department of Education. The school offers scholarship programs for students of Pasig who are gifted in science and technology.
Pasig City Science High School (Pasig Science or PCSHS, formal or PasigSci, informal) was founded in 2004 under the administration of former Pasig City Mayor Soledad Eusebio. The school formally opened in school year 2005-2006. After operating at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig in the same school year, the school moved to its own building adjacent to the Rainforest Park in Maybunga. The school's first principal was Mr. Noel Salalima, [2] who served as principal until 2013. He was then followed by Mr. Jay Mathias Arellano from 2014 until June 2018. Mr. Charlie Fababaer succeeded Mr. Arellano from 2018 to April 2024. After his promotion to OIC ASDS of the Schools Division Office in Mandaluyong, [3] Ms. Liza C. Caigoy became the new school principal in May 2024. [4]
The school added a new building with six floors on December 18, 2013, inaugurated by then-mayor Mrs. Maribel Andaya-Eusebio and the City Council. It was first used by the Grade 7 students of the academic year 2014–2015. These classrooms are fully air-conditioned.
The school is currently headed by Ms. Liza Caigoy, who started her term in May 2024.
A student-applicant must have a general weighted average (GWA) of 85% and above and have no grade in any subject below 83%. The basis for these grade requirements would be his/her Grade 5 (for incoming Grade 7) or Grade 10 (for incoming Grade 11) report card for Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS), respectively. He/She must have an average grade of 85 or above in Science, Math, and English subjects. Furthermore, to be eligible for SHS, students must not have a grade below 85 in any of the four quarters for the subjects Math, Science, and English, and a grade below 80 for any of the other subjects.
He/She must be of good moral character, and his/her parents must be bona fide residents of Pasig City for at least 3 years.
If a student were eligible for admission, they must undergo the Pasig Science Admission Test (PSAT), and then an interview afterward. As of the recent guidelines, students must have a numerical grade of 85 and above in Math, Science, and English, and no grade below 83 in other subjects. Old Grade 10 students are required to undergo the PSAT and interview for admission into Senior High School (SHS).
The PSAT is administered annually and usually administered within a month after the official DepEd school year ends.
For a student to maintain his/her regular status, he/she must have no grade below 80 in any subject, and his/her general grade average must not be below 85. If the student's average in just one of the subjects is below 80 or his/her GWA is below 85, he/she will be enrolled on probation. If the student on probation is unable to meet the requirements of a regular student, he/she will be ineligible for readmission.
On the other hand, if the student received a final grade below 80 for at least two subjects, a failing grade in any subject, or is enrolled in probation and is unable to regain his/her status as a regular student, he/she will not qualify for readmission.
All conditions above apply every semester for SHS students.
