[1] Peru returned to the football tournament once more after the controversial 1936 Olympics. Most of the athletes that represented Peru were part of the football squad. Peru also participated in shooting and rowing events.

Only the team with the most points advanced to the Semifinals. Peru lost its first two matches against France and Hungary but won its third match against India which gave them two points

Rowing at the 1960 Summer Olympics featured 7 events, for men only. The competitions were held from 30 August to 3 September on the Lago di Albano.

The football tournament at the 1960 Summer Olympics was held from 26 August to 10 September in 1960 throughout Italy. The tournament featured 16 men's national teams from four continental confederations. The 16 teams were drawn into four groups of four and each group played a round-robin tournament. At the end of the group stage, the first-ranked teams of each group advanced to the semi-finals, and culminating with the gold medal match in Rome on 10 September 1960.

The boys' football tournament at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics took place at the Jiangning Sports Center, located in Nanjing, China, between 15 and 27 August 2014.
