The Senior Cup is the prominent knockout competition for the Peterborough & District Football Association (PDFA). [1] According to the current rules of the competition, it is open to all clubs whose affiliation is with the PDFA and those affiliated to the Northamptonshire County Football Association that lie within 10 miles of Peterborough. The current holders are Peterborough ICA Sports who defeated Sawtry 1-0 at London Road Stadium in Peterborough. [2]

History

The PDFA covers the town of Peterborough, Rutland, South Lincolnshire and parts of north west Cambridgeshire. For the purposes of the Senior Cup and other cup competitions, clubs affiliated to the Northamptonshire County Football Association that lie within 10 miles of Peterborough town centre are also included. [1] The Senior Cup was first competed in the 1980-81 season. [3]

1966 FIFA World Cup 8th FIFA World Cup, held in England

The 1966 FIFA World Cup was the eighth FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial football tournament for men's senior national teams. It was played in England from 11 July to 30 July 1966. England defeated West Germany 4–2 in the final to win their first and so far only ever title; the match had finished at 2–2 after 90 minutes and went to extra time, when Geoff Hurst scored two goals to complete his hat-trick, the first to be scored in a World Cup final, with a handful of spectators wandering on to the pitch during the fourth goal. England were the fifth nation to win the event, and the third host nation to win after Uruguay in 1930 and Italy in 1934. Brazil were the defending champions, but they failed to progress from the group stage.

2007 UEFA Cup Final Football match

The 2007 UEFA Cup Final was a football match that took place on 16 May 2007 at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland.

The 1972 UEFA Cup Final was the final of the first UEFA Cup football tournament. It was a two-legged contest played on 3 May and 17 May 1972 between two English clubs, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur. This was the first UEFA club competition final to feature two teams from the same association.

It was won by Arsenal, who beat Sheffield Wednesday 2–1 in the replay after a 1–1 draw in the final at the old Wembley Stadium. The North Riding Senior Cup is the county cup in the North Riding of Yorkshire. It is administered by the North Riding County FA. According to the current rules of the competition, it is open to all clubs whose first affiliation is with the NRCFA. A team having entered an F.A. Competition,, in the current season must compete in the Senior Cup. Clubs can be exempt upon payment of a fee. Therefore, the lowest tier for compulsory entry are Northern League Division Two, Northern Counties East Division One or other Leagues of a similar status.

2014 UEFA Super Cup Football match

The 2014 UEFA Super Cup was the 39th edition of the UEFA Super Cup, an annual football match organised by UEFA and contested by the reigning champions of the two main European club competitions, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The match featured two Spanish teams Real Madrid and Sevilla, the winners of the 2013–14 UEFA Champions League and the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League respectively. It was played at the Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on 12 August 2014. The date was moved from Friday in late August in previous years, to mid-August starting this year, following the removal of the August international friendly date in the new FIFA International Match Calendar.

The West Riding County Cup is an annual football competition held between the clubs of the West Riding County Football Association which was first competed in 1927. It is the senior county cup for the historic West Riding of Yorkshire since the demise of the Senior Cup in 1999. The first winners were Leeds United Reserves in 1927.

2013–14 FA Cup Football tournament season

The 2013–14 FA Cup was the 133rd season of the FA Cup, the main domestic cup competition in English football, and the oldest football knock-out competition in the world. It was sponsored by Budweiser for a third consecutive season. 737 clubs from England and Wales entered the competition, which began with the Extra Preliminary Round on 16 August. For the first time in the history of the FA Cup, a team from Guernsey entered the competition, Guernsey F.C., who made it to the Second Round Qualifying.

The Cumberland Cup is the current senior county cup in the ancient county of Cumberland. It is administered by the Cumberland Football Association (CFA). According to the current rules of the competition, it is open to all clubs whose first affiliation is with the CFA.

The Wiltshire FA Senior Cup is the county cup in Wiltshire and has seniority over the Wiltshire Premier Shield according to the Wiltshire County FA Handbook. It is administered by the Wiltshire Football Association.

The Football League play-offs for the 2013–14 season were held in May 2014 with all finals being staged at Wembley Stadium in London.
